That's what I thought... but we decided to stick it up anyway to see what the reaction was.

See. We just love using the Community as a test bed.

Oh, well I'm sure everyone'll come up with entertaining ideas... it's just rather tepid, that's all.

It has to be something that people can disagree on, and religion and politics are always the best.

But God's beard isn't exactly..er..

I think it's an interesting way to poke fun at certain ridiculous religious debates.

For example, I'm told that Jehovah's (sp?) Witnesses base their entire sect on the belief that Jesus was crucified on a pole, rather than a cross. Or Sunni and Shiite sects of Islam disagree on the interpretation of one single passage in their holy book.

I suppose people with nothing better to do need something to debate.

After the sex, drugs and rock n' roll of the last few weeks, I thought we ought to give other people a chance...

Have you got any thoughts on subjects that you'd like to see covered in the future?

Well, what I have read up till now doesn´t look very controvercial. Seems more like a discussion for the anticlerical to pat on their backs and say "we new it in the first place about that nonexisting beard."

There is NO god (except in the sence that "god" is the som total of everything, all matter, all energy, all physical laws, etc.) orthodox relegion is just cheep stagnated politics.

but if there was he'd have a dodgy tash...

Assumption: Man is created in the image of God.

Argument: What is mans image of man?

It depends on the man. Far Eastern Man has tradionally had the wise men as bearded ,especially in Japan and China, however the current trend there is for clean shaven, although parts of Asia clean shaven including the head is the norm, see Buddist Monks.

The Western Male was once bearder though the medevial period and then clean shaven, or trimmed breards through the renaisance and middle ages, then went into a period of beardedness in the 19 and 20th Century. Again.

As for Afro-carabean males generally clean shaven so the imagery of God/gods is reflected in that imagery .

Conclusion: So does God have a beard, who knows Moses only saw his back not his face, Mohammed only saw he presence not his face. So there is insignificant data upon which to draw a satifactory conclusion, but he does have stubble and may have had to go shave after he created the razor blade.
