Kes, thx a lot smiley - smiley

Mmmm, Christmasstollen... smiley - sigh I love it.. Engländer may I have a piece??

I had a look at your conversation about democracy - very interesting, indeed..
In Poland democracy is very young - no more then 12 years (I'm counting the time after WW2) and - the same as a child it's making crazy things... We all are learning to get used to it, but some of our politicians misunderstand the meaning of it..
For example.. we had elections in September..and my folks voted for the post-communistic party. That's not, what is bothering me.. but at the 3rd place there was a party, which is only shouting: we are against, but they don't have any propositions, how to change things, people don't agree with. And why?? Because the leader has Charisma...He says very popular things, people are happy, but they don't see that's in fact nothing will change... Well, maybe everyman must make his own mistakes, as there isn't any other way to develope...

As for me... I'm happy, I live in a democracy now, many things has changed, but as for politics... well, we need another 10 years to understand the meaning of it... It's a growing-up smiley - smiley

Uff! Now I would love to have another Irish smiley - coffee, please...

Here you are Kasia... one piece of Christmasstollen...

Isn´t it fascinating how quickly West-Germany turned democratic after WW2??? I think we could put a little more trust into the "New Democracies" if you remember how quickly the place over here was integrated..

"forbiding rightwing propaganda", Engländer? But that is impossible if you want democracy.

The moment democracy tries to defend itself with undemocratic rules it is already dead! smiley - erm

Yes, Kasia, I agree. Democracry must be learned. And it is not done over night. In fact, it seems it takes more than a hundred years:

A few years back I watched a tv-series where one of Denmarks finest tv-historians told us Denmarks history. He said something like this: "King Harald Bluetooth claimed he had christened all danes. Yet we have found evidence that viking-churches were still built 100 years after his death. So I think it is fair to assume that christianity did not come to Denmark over night".

It's the same with democracy. We still encounter people who actually want to sack other people for saying what they believe!

Some say freedom of speech is essential for democracy.

I say: Freedom of speech IS democracy!

God the air is dry in here today. Can I have an smiley - ale please?

Poor Danes... why must the Christians go about imposing their beliefs on others!?? I have a big problem with that. Religion is a very personal thing.

Personal, yes ...but also collective ... yes, it is hard to agree on something as part of a group, but not seek to impose it on others.

*Drinks several non-political smiley - ale* Thanks, Kes smiley - ok

Religion is not the issue here, MsD. Most of the danes are not religious, but ged wed in churches, christen their children and go to church on christmas eve anyway, because that is our tradition (count me out, though - I do neither)

Democracy affects everyone though!
