I know! Much as I detest McDonalds, I was thankfull for a "large fries" and a "strawberry pie" after three days of Mushroom Omlette in Kiev

MT's Right Foot,
Urg. McDonald's has actually made someone happy. There's a new and untried concept. Three days of omelettes... I'd rather just not eat. I know what they cook the *tea* in. Lard, beef fat, etc have fallen out of use in the US, but I wouldn't jump to conclusions about Eastern Europe. Here they only fell out of use because the Insurance Industry got tired of paying for all that heart surgery.
Something tells me McDonald's don't worry about that in Belarus...
In New Delhi, McNar... McDonald's serve *mutton burgers* to avoid problems with Hindus, and no pork products at all (chicken, lots of chicken). It's still revolting. Come to that, the *idea* of a Hamburger Chain from the US have spread to New Delhi is quite revolting all by itself.
*dropping the subject as too gnarsty to be discussed around people who are trying to enjoy themselves*

Does anyone want some of my suitable-for-vegans organic cider (It is nut-free too!)?
*Opens a bottle and starts to pour out a few glasses*

I would love a glass of GM free, organic, vegetarian, nut free cider please. I'm gasping.
Arpeggio - I'm from Kent in England. I live in a little sea-side town which is so small and old-fashioned that we don't have any big name fast food restaurants. MacDonalds may have reached New Delhi but it will be a while yet til it gets here.
Sadly there are far to many oysters around here. What is even more disgusting is that they're eaten... well I won't say it while people are trying to enjoy themselves, I shall just express !

*suddenly looks livelier*
Gwennie... you are a daaahling! Cider... just what I needed. *downs one quickly followed by a cider chaser*
Please... no more talk of Mc Donalds... my stomach's been turning since Thursday as it is, when I found I knew another vegetarian IRL (see... we don't all stand out like hippie-layabout-personalityless sore thumbs) Anyway, we were discussing the production of cow's milk, and I can't stop thinking about it now. I feel vegan tendencies coming on... (oh no... soya milk... no chocolate...)
I see someone's put up the balloons now... I'll just leave this other box of decorations here, if someone would be kind enough to oblige...
Must go and finish writing those invitaions...

Oh yeah... have we a few volunteers for certain party 'jobs'?
We'll be needing:
a bartender
food servers
washer-uppers
party games organiser
bouncers *to frisk people for carrying 'banned substances'*
mop and bucket attendant
...and probably other jobs too, when I can think of them.

Hey folks, Happy Veggie week, if party games really do need organising, or at least some spontaneaous make-happening then I could well be the one for the job...
OH, and some cider would be lovely...

Sorry, I'm a bit late. And all I can offer is a shipload of carrots . But I hear they can be turned into . Anyone know the recipe?

Hi all,
It was obviously not the discussion of McNasty or even Deakie's home-town horror stories - probably just got a molecule of walnut or something. Very today (Monday), so just dropped in to say hi, and have fun, and don't forget all the carob bars out in the boot of my car, failing to melt in the blazing English sun...
Yeah, I drove to England for this party . Why not? You can't miss my car: it's the magenta 1965 Cadillac taking up three parking spaces and half the road.
Pegasus, soya milk is really okay. You get used to it. Honest.
Try blending one part soya-milk to two parts rice-milk at first, because that is both more nutritious and somewhat less thick than soya-milk on its own. The flavoured kinds are really pleasant. And so long as it is dark , you can still eat it. No dairy. .

*grins at Zarniroop*
I don't think everyone would appreciate it
I have vegetarian jelly and icecream though!

Soymilk and dairy-free choccie is wonderful stuff. 8-) I've been a vegan for over twenty years and my soon-to-be-fourteen-year-old daughter is a life-long vegan. In fact, on the occasions that I've accidentally drunk my hubby's tea/coffee (he's an omnivore) with dairy milk in (even the fully skimmed variety), I have found it to be like drinking slimy sweet goo, which sticks to the inside of my mouth.

Arpeggio -
I don't believe you have driven to England for this party. I've been melting in the blazing English sun. It's been 30 degrees C out there this week. I'm a little English rose, I can't cope with that sort of heat. Luckily it is a little cooler today.
I think I'll pop along and offer my services.
See you all later.

*decides not to go into the gory details of what sort of 'substances' would be banned at a veggie party*
I think you'd make a fine bouncer though Zarniroop.
