*Kes wakes. This is not his warm little bedroom in a suburban semi. He really wakes, and remembers*
Groan. Still here. The 40 hours must be up soon.
*notices members of the tribe by the shelter, and walks over, bringing his controbution of food and goodies*
Hi. Having any luck getting the fire going? I'm a bit chilly.

Kes Posted Aug 2, 2000
OK. I'll see to it. I don't know where you got the match from, but I'm glad you've got it. Pass it here.
*spreads out anorak to form windshield, strikes non-safety match on rock, and applies it to the small twigs and kindling. Puffs gently ... a little smoke ... more .. a flame ...*
I think it's going to work. Let's keep a careful eye on it 'til it's a grown-up fire. Then it'll keep you warm.

*appears with armfuls of dry foliage to keep Lintilla's fire warm.*
Hi peeps, this should keep us going for a bit.
Someones been busy fishing......are they gutted yet? don't mind the mucky jobs
*Thinks...I wouldn't have minded the fire lighting job *

Kes Posted Aug 2, 2000
Thanks - that's great. Yes please! I didn't know fish had innards - I thought they only had batter "outards". When they're gutted, we'll cook some - part to eat now, part to eat over the next couple of days. Any fish left over we should let it sit in the smoke from the fire - when it's smoked, it'll keep for ages.
I think we should go and get some more fresh water. Any ideas for a container? My boots aren't all that big. Who's going to go? Why are you looking at me?

Tweetie had a canister yesterday, best you use that.
Meanwhile i saw ox over at the cragi tribe feeding them seagull....did any come our way?

Eatsmice. Posted Aug 2, 2000
Mind you I don't think we'll need any...look at this....
*Pulls large white fish up from the beach where it had berthed itself in an attempt to eat Peaceful*
Aha, Charcharodon Floridus !
*removes Florida license plate from sharks belly*
See......
Shark steak anyone???
Survivor - Yapong Base-Camp...
Kes Posted Aug 2, 2000
No, I don't think so, but he had a successful clam-gathering expedition. When we've eaten them, we'll have some good containers ... In the meantime, sounds like I've been volunteered for water fetching. I should be back before too long. Hope the cooking and fish-smoking goes well. Save some for me! See you later.

*returns from waterfall. Puts down water container. Spreads harness and cushions round fire (not too close) to dry. Adds a bit more wood to fire, turns fish over. A piece breaks off*
Mmm. That tastes good. Dream on, L. I'll be back.

*wanders in, now having dried off on the trek from the waterfall*
I've stashed the machinegun and ammo somewhere safe 'til we decide what to do with it
*grabs a slice of fish and munches contentedly*
We might have to use that nice young lady as fishbait again

I changed my mind - I've come back to get warm. What nice young lady? My mum said I shouldn't run around with the girls from school - I should save myself for a nice young lady, but not many come to the stamp club meetings. I brought some of my stamps with me. Would you like to see my stamps?

*sits back, munching on Jaws*

The young lady's name is Peaceful, one of ours

You'd never believe how interesting stamps can be. Nobody does. No, don't go yet - look at this page - Edible plants and fruits of the tropics. It was a 1992 mint set from Hawai. The notes tell you all about the plants. See over there - that bush near the beach is just like this stamp - you can eat the leaves and the fruit. And that tree over there - look - it's another one.
Now the 1994 series shows poisonous fruits - see that red one? There are lots of those up on the plains.
The world of stamp collecting really gets you, doesn't it? I can tell. What's your hobby?

Eatsmice. Posted Aug 2, 2000
Hmmm, that's certainly a handy collection.
Hang on to it and keep it dry.
As to my hobbies............
Big cat wrestling is the latest.
So far tho I've only practiced on my cat Pickles...but I'm hoping to work up to bigger things.

That's about all the useful things from the plane...it was Japanese you know....
When Reality Takes a U Turn...
Matthew Kershaw Posted Aug 2, 2000
* The first rule of psychology is that reality is a negotiated experience. That being that whatever the mind desires to be true, can more or less happen if resistence isn't met... *
* Take for example the delusions of young Tweetie here. Despite evidence to the contrary that she is infact a normal schoolgirl from Scotland, in her desperation for food she has dreamt up the notion of her all-powerful wicca ways. Her mind might be very well be satisfied with her deep ocean haul, but you can bet her stomach won't feel the same... *
* Also, see the poor Peaceful Earthling rolling around on the beach inviting non-plussed sharks out to sea to come and nibble an ear or two... *
* Although these delusions might very well have a sound medical basis, as Big 'Evil' Dan is now laying bent over shivering... *

No, I didn't know that. Poor pilot - left his headband and boots behind, but not a lot else. Next time I'm up there I'll see if he left any Japanese stamps - war-time Imperial - they'd be worth quite a bit.
I'm just going to look around the beaches for a few minutes - might see something useful - I saw the boat yesterday.
Keep the fire going - and change the fish round so it all gets cooked. Back soon.

Ok Kes
That water is going to come in handy to flush out Tweetie and Dan's stomachs.
We'll try them on small pieces of sharkmeat later on when they feel up to it.
*settles down to wait for Kes, ox and others to reappear, keeping a watchful eye on the "tummy-cramp twins" *

I'm back. I was just listening to Kiddo. He's got a short attention span. He just vanished while I was telling him all about what my mum used to say ..
Ooh! What's the matter with them?
*points to the gastro-sufferers*
And what was the nice young lady doing out on the beach all on her own?
