I have eaten 
heroically!
On a residential holiday for kids, where I was a leader (OK, more a dogsbody), the cooks managed to serve up the worst cheesecake ever 
! [Very worrying, as up until then all the food was brilliant). Most people dutifully ate the bit they'd been served (or in the case of us leaders/dogsbodies, served ourselves with), but things got really heroic that evening...
As there was some left over, the cooks kindly left it out for us to eat while the kids were pretending to go to sleep. 
So myself and a couple of other heroes had to step in and eat a piece each so as not to upset them. Bleugh.
