Of course, New Orleans is just a few hours away, so I'm considering going there for next Mardi Gras. We'll see. smiley - winkeye

I've been to Austin once and Houston a few times...four, if I remember correctly. Mostly, it was business trips and we didn't get much of a chance to look around.

You should see the New Orleans parades at least once. There is a way to buy tickets to the grand stands if you feel uncomfortable standing in the streets.

I'm a big ol' extrovert. I don't think I'd have a problem with the streets.

Of course, I won't be "baring" much, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem. I am an orange belt in Ninpo Bugei. smiley - winkeye

I haven't had to *flash* for beads, yet.

It's the doubloons that I like the best. So, I tend to stomp those when they hit the ground, then pick them up as everyone reaches up for the beads. I do wear boots to Mardi Gras parades.

And what a great float this is. smiley - wow

I've never thrown beads at anybody before. Wouldn't want to throw them hard enough to hurt anybody. smiley - yikessmiley - nurse

For Mardi Gras, you might want the combat boots...smiley - winkeye

Old Navy isn't a surplus store. But, I know where to get old Navy uniforms and survival equipment if you'd like something.

I have a peacoat that I absolutely adore, but I will be needing a new one soon. There are plenty of Army places around here, but nothing Naval. smiley - sigh I may need to take you up on that offer. smiley - smiley

My brother has a peacoat, I'll ask him where he got it.

There is a surplus store in Baton Rouge. There is an annual Gun & Knife show as well. Not to mention all the hunting stores in the area.

*gracefully turns the corner of the campsite and waits as the other floats catch up*

There, that wasn't so bad, was it?

A root beer float is a drink: a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a glass of root beer. smiley - smiley

I love rootbeer floats. Dad's rootbeer, and Breyer's vanilla ice cream.
