Mardi Gras 2004
Gw7en, Voice of Chaos (Classic) Posted Feb 24, 2004
Been here for almost a year at this point.
*throws more beads to a happy, looking group on the side of the route*
Of course, New Orleans is just a few hours away, so I'm considering going there for next Mardi Gras. We'll see.

Nice costume!
Help yourself to the beads, trinkets and refreshments.

I've been to Austin once and Houston a few times...four, if I remember correctly. Mostly, it was business trips and we didn't get much of a chance to look around.
You should see the New Orleans parades at least once. There is a way to buy tickets to the grand stands if you feel uncomfortable standing in the streets.

I'm a big ol' extrovert. I don't think I'd have a problem with the streets.
Of course, I won't be "baring" much, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem. I am an orange belt in Ninpo Bugei.

I haven't had to *flash* for beads, yet.
It's the doubloons that I like the best. So, I tend to stomp those when they hit the ground, then pick them up as everyone reaches up for the beads. I do wear boots to Mardi Gras parades.

Big ol' extroverts are fine with me.
And what a great float this is.
I've never thrown beads at anybody before. Wouldn't want to throw them hard enough to hurt anybody.

Good to know, Paul.
Boots, huh? I've got some lovely ropers that might fit the bill...
Well, its those or my combat boots. I love surplus stores.

Evangeline Posted Feb 24, 2004
For Mardi Gras, you might want the combat boots...
Old Navy isn't a surplus store. But, I know where to get old Navy uniforms and survival equipment if you'd like something.
*throws more beads*
Hang on everyone we have to turn a bit up here...you might want to lean to your right a little....

I have a peacoat that I absolutely adore, but I will be needing a new one soon. There are plenty of Army places around here, but nothing Naval. I may need to take you up on that offer.

My brother has a peacoat, I'll ask him where he got it.
There is a surplus store in Baton Rouge. There is an annual Gun & Knife show as well. Not to mention all the hunting stores in the area.
*gracefully turns the corner of the campsite and waits as the other floats catch up*
There, that wasn't so bad, was it?
*sips *

*now that the other floats are catching up, the parade begins moving to move along the remaining part of the route*
Everybody okay back there?

I was making a pun.
A root beer float is a drink: a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a glass of root beer.
