You're a naughty boy!
Go to my room immediately.
Er, is this East Midlands Meet anywhere near East Midlands airport, at all at all?

Not really. You might be able to tap up FM for a bus route if you're lucky.

Right. Flights booked!
Now, how much would a taxi be from t'airport to Burton? Would rather not have to hire a car or cope with infrequent and confusing public transport....
...you're going to tell me now that there's a bus that leaves every 5 minutes and costs 10p, yes?

It's a long way from Kegworth to Burton by taxi. You're best off finding someone going the same way. Which, sadly at the minute, is no-one.

Assunming that I get off my bum and come, which station should I head for from London?

Mu Beta Posted Aug 21, 2006
I believe Burton-on-Trent station is in brewery central, but Kerr can probably give a better-informed answer than me.

I know from Kentish experience that the obvious station isn't always the best one (Sevenoaks/Bat & Ball being a good example).

"Well, GreyDesk seems semi-keen, although I suspect he'll be at Highbury until 5pm."
Why would I want to be on a north London building site that afternoon?
I might be a couple of streets away in a branded uber-dome type of a structure. Though to be honest I wasn't really planning on going to the Arsenal game that weekend. I mean what's the point: Arsenal will win by cheating, as per bloody usual.

Yes Burton-on-Trent station is cunningly located less than five minutes from the town hall.
There's three or four direct trains from St. Pancras to Burton a day, or shed loads straight from St. Pancras to Derby, where you can chnage very easily.
East Midlands Airport isn't near *anything*. There are direct quick buses from the airport to Derby Railway station though, and you can get a train from there straight to Burton.

Here you go LS. You want the second timetable on that page. The bus drops you by the Railway Station, and it's 12 minutes on the train from Derby to Burton.
DIRECTIONS FROM BURTON STATION TO TOWN HALL
Anyone coming to the Station but not coming to mine first needs to follow these directions:
Come out of station, standing with your back to the station turn left. Go past the first set of lights you see (where three meet), then at the next set (where another three meet) cross over the first set and the second set. The big building you are now stood by is the town hall.
There, that was easy, wasn't it. Follow the crowds, basically. Bring any cash you need with you as there's only one machine near the town hall that usually has massive queues and then runs out about 1400!

I suppose I ought to offer lifts to anyone who is travelling from the South East - basically Central Sussex, Surrey, London and maybe parts of Kent.
You get to share the petrol, well diesel actually, costs. And you get the bejesus scared out of you when I decide to stamp on the accelerator - my new car: yes I *have* tested out the nought to sixty; and yes, it *is* as quick as it's reputed to be
One point to note though: passengers 2 and 3 had better be small and passenger 4 had better be no larger than an eight year old double lower leg amputeee. There really isn't much space in the back...

And if you're not a double leg amputee, you will be after GreyDesk has attempted to drive you up the M1 in his new car.

So what sort of time would be good to turn up at. Just so I can plan my journey to get there a bit late
