And now it's time for... EMM3!

Beer

When?

Burton-on-Trent Beer Festival, the Town Hall Saturday 23rd September 2006

Burton CAMRA is terrible at updating their website, but there's more details available on the

main CAMRA site.

The Festival is open 1130 - 2300

We'll be meeting at the Town Hall around 1300 (meet by the flower beds next to the main entrance). If you're dropping stuff off at mine first, we'll be aiming to leave there around 1230.

DIRECTIONS FROM BURTON STATION TO TOWN HALL

Anyone coming to the Station but not coming to mine first needs to follow these directions:

Come out of station, standing with your back to the station turn left. Go past the first set of lights you see (where three meet), then at the next set (where another three meet) cross over the first set and the second set. The big building you are now stood by is the town hall.

There, that was easy, wasn't it. Follow the crowds, basically. Bring any cash you need with you as there's only one machine near the town hall that usually has massive queues and then runs out about 1400!

Food is available at the festival, but if it looks nasty, there are a number of decent eateries nearby.

Followed by:

A picnic on the Washlands on Sunday, to soak up the booze.

EMM2: Probably not return of the Deuchars

Right then, after endless buggering about, an unilateral decision has been taken by a secret cabal of Researchers1 that the next East Midlands meet will be held on 5 March 2005 in Burton-on-Trent2.

The current plot is to meet at The Cooper's Tavern on Cross Street (about 2 minutes walk from the railway station) from 1230 onwards, possibly followed by a trip to The Bass Muesum of Brewing, if people fancy that.

Food will happen after leaving The Coopers- the Fish and chip shop opposite The Derby Turn is the probable location.

From 1930 onwards we will be in The Derby Turn at the Derby Turn roundabout, where the lovely landlord has agreed to let us use the backroom, complete with late licence. The quiz will be held about around 2000, and this time round it's something a bit different. Suffice to say that in a break from tradition, none of the answers can be found in the Edited Guide.

Maps showing the lcoations of both pubs can be found in the thread below entitled 'maps'. Cheap B and Bs are available with 30 seconds of The Derby Turn, details can be found in the thread below.
