mud? well, muds great, when I was young I used to make mud pies, you'd sit in the garden after mum had watered the plants with a hose, and grab a load of mud and make a mud-pie. you know you pile it all up squish it together and end up with your hands all sticky...

BUZZ repetition of mud pie.
NP: Indeed there were too many Mudpies flying about so DD you have 51 scond on the subject Mud, Glorious Mud .
DD: Mud, Glorious Mud, there's nothing quite like it for stiring the blood is a Noel Coward song which is often accompanied by footage of hippotami wallowing in mud. Hippos love the mud so much that they enjoy nothing better that to be up to their necks.....

(Wow! nobody's got me for hesitation yet. Right...)
A less well known song about mud, also by Flanders and Swann is a followup to the one just mentioned: it goes something like this (to the same tune as the original):
The old hippopotamous of which we once heard,
Is now married and father of ten!
He mutters "God rot'em!" as he watches them grow,
And longs to be single again.
I forget how it continues, although there is some line about "No hippopotamas in silken pyjamas".
But more importantly, being on a diet, I'm *really* missing that gorgeous, not to mention Glorious dessert, Mississippi mud pie.

Somebody wake the dormouse, he's sleeping in my ... oops ... I mean thank you for wakening me my dark and handsome prince**, I have slept for 21 days waiting for you - Mine's a pint of scrumpy, and miss out the rat, I'm vegetarian these days ...... and that's one deviation we won't go into!
** Sorry, I was still half asleep, now I come to think about it, dark and handsome is about as likely in a student barman as money in his pocket ......

Do you think I would be such a terrible barman as to let some poor customer drink an unsettled pint, well it was only cider.

I have made a (semi serious) resolution never again to drink where I cannot get a tulip and a properly settled pint. Unfortunately this seems to rule out large parts of SE England and all metric places...well, I suppose a well settled litre of beer might be alright

Abi Posted Jul 12, 2000
I have a friend called Tulip... but that is another story.

And which pub can you get a tulip in, I think that may be your limiting factor here.
