The Pastey One!
Thanks for reassurance. To be honest, you have seen very little of me in the wild, but I'll take it!

I am exactly the same age as Bluebottle, give or take a day or two, and also in the being 8 side of things, although I have changed over time in a sort of back-to-front way, eg when I was a teenager, I read weighty books full of bleakness and dystopia, but nowadays I prefer much more lighthearted books and TV...
It isn't always easy being older than 8, but I'm glad I am, as I have learned and experienced excellent things I didn't even dream of when I was 8, so I'm doing alright...
I was disappointed not to have seen more of you in the wild too, Milla, but I've not forgotten your kind welcome when we met briefly last year

What real world?.
I have made it to Essex. Now this may not sound very impressive but it was done single handed in my boat. I am now 'anchored up' in the entrance to the river Roach. I am not going ashore so no passport required. Back to Kent in the morning.

I am so relieved. It feels like the year long slump and apathy might be lifting.
I *do* things, even if it's small things sometimes, like vacuuming one room.
Today I've been so active I don't know what's become of me - 2 loads of laundry, hung to dry in the sun. Scraped weeds out between the patio tiles, trimmed off the lawn that was growing in over the patio. Even cut back the "root-shoots" that come up at the base of the plum tree.
Of course, the pretty pretty weather might have helped - the sky is so blue, and the fresh leaves and bloom of the oak tree are almost yellow in their green nuance, really really vivid colours everywhere.
Or, it's just a hypomanic episode, and I should go take care of my self...

Had a rain today, one of the best this year of what's been an agonizingly dry season even for the Colorado Desert, enough to settle the dust and clear the air.
Got some landscape photos of desert terrains and cloud masses, saw a couple of watersprites over the Salton Sea, tried for snapshots, but they were so distant I doubt I'll be able to bring anything recognizable with my photo software.
Birds singing, desert hares browsing in the garden ...doubtless other garden pests will be out.
A small but colorful bird with yellow head and undetbelly feathers, green back and wings, I've so far been unable to identify, about 3"/10cm from beak to tail-tip, trapped itself temporarily in a wire conservatory cage over a flowerbed, but managed to extricate itself without needing to be rescued.
That particular bird is an insectivore with a habit of methodically combing stems and branches of trees and shubs matching its colors for insects and is besides being exceptionally attractive, useful and helpful to have around.

Sounds like you need Garden Chair Therapy.
Do what you're doing but then kick back in a garden chair with a nice cup of .

I had an odd dream last night. I was in this town, that I keep returning to in my dreams - and I'm getting to find my way around there quite well. This time, it was some conference/work thing, but we also had time to walk around town. And I kept losing my shoes. Walking into a store, coming out, and not having shoes on. Go back to find them. Go to a cafe, leaving, realising I'm barefoot again, and finding my shoes in a pocket. Sitting at a table working, moving away, and missing my shoes. What on earth should I interpret this as?
Luckily, the streets and floors were ok to walk on, no sharp things, not too cold, but why did I leave my shoes all the time, and not notice?

Dreams are exceptionally weird things.
I Had a weird dream a couple of nights ago in which I was on a night out in Lancaster with a number of friends. We were joined by England footballers Wayne Rooney and James Milner ( who got very competitive over a game of the computer game football manager on he train up) and French tennis coach Amelie Mauresmo (who spent the whole night smoking joints). That was a weird one.

What exactly is going on inside a cats head? Do they like humans at all? If the dreamies and kitycat stopped, they would disapear in a flash. Dogs. You know where you are with a dog. Food, walk, throw stick, pat on head = friend for life.
I am getting an imac tommorow...it had better be worth the money.

I think it very much depends on the cat - have you seen the clip of the cat that rescued a young boy from a vicious dog?
It was on loads of news websites, including:

Yes an amazing cat.
Thing is ; it made the news because it's so unusual. 'Dog protects family' is part of every dogs covenant for being looked after and being part of the family pack. But I must say it is interesting getting to know a cat. Are you supposed to just know what they want? Maybe thats why cats are more likely to be a womans pet. [ I now expect to be shot down in flames for being sexist ]
