Am posting this from the new shiny iMac . Not so difficult to set up. There's weird symbols on the keyboard, I am scared to push them, I don't like pushing buttons when I don't know what they do. But I use windows at work and Ubuntu for the last 10 years at home, so I am sure I will soon get into the swing of things.

There are some nice cat stories here.
The Paul Linebarger story in the second link is more subjective and projective than those in the anthology.
The opening story in the first link has to do with a cat with a no-nonsense attitude to training a human to be a help around the house.

Here's another one that just came up in "Daydream Journal", a neighboring h2g2 thread.

Sat on board 'blue venture 'anchored at the entrance to the river Roach in sunny Essex. The breeze is a bit stiff for me to head back across the Thames estuary to Kent,so I may be stuck here a day or two
. Not that I am in a hurry to get anywhere...i am on holiday.
This is a no cat vessel so I have no feline behaviour to try and decode.

Sat onboard yesterday evening watching rain fall over the Isle of Wight and the sun set through several layers of thin cloud over Lymington. No better place to be in this weather. Felt like an extra weekend even though we were only there for two hours.

Notice in the cat stowaway on ultralight video, how the cat grimly hung on until the plane was safely back on the ground, then refused help disembarking?
Something of a universal of cat behavior that accounts in part for their reputation for independance.

Well that's ruined that game of sardines. Ah well, a cup of tea and a biscuit please whoever's near the kettle.

Well, that's comforting. I wish were on a boat somewhere, but I am, in fact, on a bus, which is much less fun. I do however have a new kitten, named Arremis. lo Pastey, and all! Long time no see!

Mol - on the new tablet Posted Jul 13, 2015
I am reading books.
Pioneer Girl, the annotated autobiography of Laura Ingalls Wilder, which (annoyingly) I only found out about *after* I had placed my Christmas order, so I've had to wait for it.
Foxglove Summer, published in paperback last Thursday
Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, cos the TV series was pretty good.
They all arrived this morning. It was really hard focussing on work all day, knowing they were waiting for me.
But then I had to spend most of the evening videoing Osh building a PC.
So *now* I am reading books. Not chatting here. Sorry
Mol

Alternating between propagating onions and banannas in the garden and taking long breaks when the heat gets to me.
Currently reading Arthur Conan Doyle's "The White Company", a medieval romance set in the 14th century.
I discovered Laura Ingalls Wilder back in the early 60s in my Junior High School library.
The kind of 'wild west' literature I like best, by peop!e who actually lived in the region in those times.
