Witty Moniker

As a last resort, you can just hand it back to the carrier with instructions to return to sender, addressee unknown.

It's at home. The Royal Mail left it next door when we were all out.

Lil - Almost certainly. I thought if I could find the sender he might be able to produce the correct address. It's got our correct postcode, so it must be another number somewhere near us on the same street.

Witty - I may have to, but it seems a shame to send it back trans-Atlantic.

Florida Sailor All is well with the world

A US address should have a 5 digit zip code at the end, this will place it to the city, and probably a district in the city it was sent from. If it has a dash and another 4 digits it will tie it down to a very small area, possibly even a single house. If the return address doesn't check out I would be very suspicious and turn it over to the authorities. The zip code could also be phonysmiley - ermIt could well contain illegal items that the sender did not want to be traced back to them. Just like E-mails from an unknown source I would not open it. smiley - goodluck

I've often had stuff delivered to our door. One was a parcel from Amazon addressed to a house in Brighton with an address and postcode nothing like ours, that had been requested urgent guaranteed next day delivery. Another time a big box containing a lot of guttering was dumped outside our door. I phoned the company on the invoice, who kept promising to collect it, and didn't. smiley - weird

Tav, there are external DVD burners/readers that you can plug into a USB port. Surely the company you w*rk for can invest in at least one, so that you can take turns using it?

I got a parcel last christmas and thinking it was the shopping trolly I had ordered for my parents, I opened it. Inside were a few bibles and some very brightly coloured 'ethnic' dresses. Flipping the box over there was an address in Cardiff and an African sounding name. So I wrote to the address and explained I had their parcel and that I would give it back to the courier for redelivery. I got no letter or e-mail of thanks for putting myself out...I should have used the gaudy dresses as rags and the bibles for fire lighters.
Remember me asking about blogs a few weeks back? I chose weebly in the end as this is the site used by my kayak fishing team and I had to learn how to use it. There was no point in learning how to use two different blog sites. So here is my first post..

Do I detect it might have been a bit foggy around Cheshire and Manc this morning?

But I'm waiting for a call back from T'Bank.

It is most definitely Thursday today.

FloridaSailor - The return address appears to be real, it's only the phone number I found that didn't work. Not necessarily suspicious; I mean you won't find me in the phonebook, but I'm a real person (honest). I will have to take the parcel to the Post Office to return to sender.

Yes, it's been a Thursday, all right. I found it best, in the end, to sleep through part of it.

Cities with the most 'selfies' - I'm actually relieved Stockholm is only no 56. I guess Swedes are too busy fiddling with their smartphones to take photos of themselves fiddling with their smartphones...

Sleep through it sounds like a good option. Dunno about the whole lying down with a paper bag on the head, but the smiley - ale and < peanuts > and hitching an interstellar ride sounds inviting.

As long as I can take my kindle with me, I'm up for it. I just bought a compendium of short stories by Robert Sheckley. Does anyone remember Sheckley?

It's only thanks to reader reviews that I found out that Douglas Adams revered Sheckley as a seminal influence. As he should be. The book "Mindswap" is startling, funny, and totally original.

It was Status Civilisation that got me reading Sheckley. An amazing book.
