Tod paddles in from the sea on a large yellow kayak. Surfs the last hundred metres. Dismounts gracefully and strolls up the beach large, ice cold, G&T in hand . Happy 4th of July everyone.

And the ooc brackets are like a time-out in the course of what's going on, to talk about meta stuff like this. We used to use angle brackets like other smilies, but Pliny doesn't seem to like that.

Leaving the sparklers on a table for guests, they stride up the beach to a safe distance*

*The sand mound stops at the base of the pie rack. A rather large blue furry hand emerges from the sand mound, reaches up and takes a pie from the bottom rack, then retreats below the surface. A very muffled "nom nom nom" sound might be heard by someone with keen ears standing near the pie rack.*
