Don't know much about Jura, but I know we need to post here a lot more often, because this thread, that is very important to me, keeps sliding off the first of my MP page!
As I remember it, the Salon was even used to test the 'most recent postings' function at some point in h2g2 history, with Peta showing up.
Tea please, IIEM - something soothing, but not camomille, can't stand teh stuff

Ah, sorry, that was Abi, and the cleaning bot. You can find out more about h2g2 history on the bot's user page

Icy seems to have figured out how to post Pliny links, need to learn that...

Pastey Posted Nov 20, 2013
Yeah, I really need to sort them out so the links work properly. Just been a bit busy recently.
Although, I have (finally) published my first book!

indeed Pastey!
Please let us know when the Kindle version is available, that's probably the most updated gadget I have. And it's going to stay so, as long as I have any say.
Don't even get me started of how self-obsessed and even addicted many owners of so called 'smart' phones appear to have grown.

Will do! It's just another publishing process to go through, that I'm having to learn I've sorted out the Kindle Publishing account thing, including all the tax forms, etc. Just need to convert the manuscript to the right format.

I have found a very soothing tea - fennel seed and liquorice root. Hampstead brand, I think. Purple envelopes. Very nice.

I'm grateful to be drinking tea at all -- my favorite brand, Red Rose, is Canadian; it's a blend of orange and black pekoe. I am reconciled to the plastic mug, and the aides have learned to make the water boiling hot for me.
I also await news of the kindle version.

Do they grow tea in Canada?
Hmm people and their devices. Watched a young mother engrossed in whatever she was looking at on her mobile while walking along a suburban street the other day. In the meantime her young daughter was peddling her scooter towards the edge of the road...the mother took no notice. You can sit and watch parents playing with there devices and ignoring there children all day everyday.

I was driving behind a young woman who was walking on the street in front of me with her phone. I was only 2 meters behind her with the car and she didn't notice... until I used the horn.

Don't like liquorice taste except in candy. Not in tea, not in red wine. And not in food.

I love liquerice.
As a kid though, I was at the doctors a lot (long story, won't bore you) and once I saw a big jar of liquerice sticks on the doctors desk. As he was writing out my prescription he said "Do you like liquerice?", "Yes, very much" I replied.
He didn't give me a stick.
He gave me liquerice flavoured medicine instead.
That wasn't nice.

minichessemouse - Ahoy there me barnacle! Posted Nov 22, 2013
I think the ickyest medicine I ever got was some 'orange flavour' antibiotics for a particularly nasty chest infection. This was after the 'banana flavour' didn't work.
How they expect children to take those is beyond me!

I have vague recollections of blackcurrant medicine and definitely had banana medicine....
When was Calpol invented, I wonder?

as a child I got penicillin with strawberry flavour, but it was so bad that the taste made me vomit, so I got banana.

Nosebagbadger {Ace} Posted Nov 22, 2013
Not sure any flavour would have helped me there, being allergic to penicillin (due to my epilepsy meds making me allergic to one branch of anti-biotics, I have the situation of being allergic to every single anti-biotic, with me just taking the best that I can, when ill )
I remember liking calpol when I was younger, recently I had an opportunity to try some - one tiny taste later and i was spluttering - it tastes awful...enough sugar to keep any child happy though
In a related story, my mum's friend, last year, when it was snowing was caught inside with an intense fever - not able to get any biotics, and not quite bad enough to get an ambulance in the conditions, they founds themselves without any medicine in their house but calpol - his wife, being a nurse adjusted the quantities to an adult - requiring 22 spoonfuls!

Interesting, Tav - I'm exactly the opposite, having been given the 'banana' flavour when I was ill, so even now I can't stand even the smell of a real banana, and it was such a treat when I got the strawberry one instead for some unknown reason!
I used to like purple Calpol, and I was so disappointed when I had to move up to the 'older child' unpleasant orange flavour...
The tastiest medicine I've ever taken was some cough mixture in France - it was very sweet, but strangely delicious, so I had to be strict with myself not to eat too much of it.

Had to laugh at this picture - I think most parents will recognize that stage when your child is impossible to keep up with...
