I adventured out last night to what is billed as the largest shopping mall in Egypt to look for a gift for J. That was an interesting experience. The place was enormous' with over 500 shops. Quite a look at the culture here.

Today' I am cooling my heels at the hotel as I really do not have any plans. Tomorrow I should be visiting Giza.

Never really fancied Egypt I'm afraid. Morocco was about the closest I've got, never had any reason to get closer.

My 'Things to do before I turn 40' list includes visiting the site of 6 of the 7 Wonders of the World (not the Hanging Gardens of Babylon - there's no definite evidence it exists and it is a bit like going to a war zone). I've been to 4, including the Great Pyramid, but will have to visit Alexandria for the site of the Pharos. I was waiting for Egypt to calm down a bit before going, but would love to explore the country more.

I'm wanting to go back to the States, possibly this time to do the full coast to coast drive. But I'd also like to spend some time in Texas next time.

Texas may be an independent republic when you get back to the States. Be sure to check whether a separate visa is required. smiley - winkeye

My travel bucket list has the trans-Canadian rail trip as number one.

I've been to Egypt twice, and have yet to see a pyramid!

A Nile cruise is on my bucket list, though, and I did climb Mount Sinai

My personal travel bucket list is more of a hiking list, really. Places Where I So Want To Go Hking includes East Greenland (Southeast - Northeast will likely be biting off more that I can chew), Patagonia, British Columbia, the rain forests of Costa Rica (due to the convenient fact that I have a colleague there who knows the whereabouts and has gear smiley - smiley) and probably many other places.

Oh, and with local friends we have almost decided to walk up the Kilimanjaro.

So I was unable to get out and see anything on the weekend. Last night as my team was going out to visit the Nile, the car I was traveling in was involved in a fairly major accident. We were not seriously harmed, but I am sore and bruised from the seat belt today. I am thankful I was wearing it at the time of the accident.
