It seems likely that I'll be cutting my visit to Cairo a week short. As soon as I can today, I am going to see a consulting doctor to get forms filled out to allow me to fly back to the US. While I believe it likely that I'll have an upgraded ticket back, it doesn't seem worth the price.
I never did get to see Giza.

It's 'Ghost Brothers of Darkland County', Lil, I was reading about it the other day, it looks very interesting.

Safe trip back Marv.
Our air conditioning went out yesterday, no worries though, it's only supposed to get close to 90F today.

I've been trying to convince my colleagues at the office *not to open all windows on hot days because then you let the hot air in and render the A/C useless Not much success so far, though.
Just look at the people living around the Mediterranean Sea. What do they do in the middle of the day when it's hottest? They *shut all doors and windows, unless they're facing a shadowed patio.
Ho hum. I've a lot of convincing to do, considering the climate scientists are predicting Mediterranean temperatures for Scandinavia, and also predicting a wave of Mediterranean tourists escaping their own escalated heat and forest fires and what-nots.

A question: when I start up my PC, it tells me the temperature of various parts. Is there any way to check those temperatures once the PC is up and running?

Ti, your office A/C is not dimensioned to cool off the air in the entire Stockholm area?
I have seen predictions that Danes' predilection for lots of window areas in our houses in combination with the high degree of insulation may bite us in a certain part of our anatomy, should we get Mediterrenean weather. Here's hoping that sun panels for electricity and/or household wind turbines become efficient and affordable before we all eventually need A/C here!

Well, the odd thing is that the summers tend to get hotter and more humid while the winters tend to get colder, snowier and veeery long. Way back when scientists predicted a hothouse effect *and a new ice age it didn't make much sense to me. These last few years, it does.

*hides beneath a sofa*
There's a mighty thunderstorm outside that's been thundering for more than three hours solid, loud enough to set the glass panes in my windows tingling. I wish it'd wear itself out. Soon. The sooner the better.
*listens intently*
*crawls further in beneath the sofa*

Titania, try SpeedFan. I used to use this to monitor my desktop before I upped the cooling in it.

Just watch out to click the right link, as the big "Download" button is an advert, the download link is in the text itself.

Ears are still ringing, voice is still hoarse, feet still hurt from jumping up and down, hands still hurt from applauding. That was one awesome They Might Be Giants show last night!

Wish that was in the park out the back of our house rather than this Parklife crud.
Yesterday wasn't too bad, but today is a lot louder. Awful dance music and lots of drunken college kids.

It's Monday again. I seem to be constantly tired or exhausted at the moment and it's hard to concentrate.
If I ask the boss for holidays he'll certainly again say 'when you get your work done' and I have no idea how long that will take. Seems like forever at the momet as I've never before done my current tasks and it all seems too much.

I'd love to be able to open a window and let warm air into this room at work. We've got no heating and it is freezing!

Hm, after a few days of being boiling, it's gotten back down to Spring-y temperatures. ... and then it started raining.
In other news, I've discovered the joys of the Dollar Tree, a semi-local store where literally everything costs USD$1 or less. It's a bit of a walk, but hey, exercise.

We've had some spiffin' days here this week - it's apparently due to revert to good old not-too-warm but then at least wet by tomorrow...
Took the opportunity of the weather to get a much needed bike ride day in today - and, at that, to one of the company's sites. 21.5 km this morning (that ... ... ended up being 24 km as I trusted signage more than the map in my pocket). But good, easy roads that allowed me to go quite a bit faster than when I do my foresty trip to the usual office.
And now I am contemplating heading back - and, actually, to take a more green route home, even if that means more navigating and something like 23 km (without mishaps).

I have virtually no contact with the outside world at the moment. My options are a courtyard that has become stultifyingly hot and still, or the front porch, which is stultifyingly hot and breezy.
Has everyone seen the latest Create challenge? I'm in awe at some of the entries.
