Hello Gingersnapper.
KimikoMuffin, I'm sorry you're having such difficulties. Let's hope things turn around soon.
Marv, glad you arrived safely and that your luggage finally joined you. Sheesh.
My Memorial Day cookout was a mixed bag. The food was great and everyone seemed to have a good time, except me. My shoulder and back hurt too bad for me to enjoy anything. But I kept smiling and tried to make the best of it. I was glad when they all left, that's for sure. Winston was quite the star. He's 5 months old now, but a couple of my guests hadn't met him yet. Everyone there got kisses and lots of tail wags.

Why don't we go down to the beach and throw pies there? Nbb and Ovid have my permission to start a new thread on this forum page -- but not before we get organised.
What flavors of cream pies?
After the cleaning off swim and after the bots help us clean up the beach, shall we have a picnic?
Can we get Wolfgang to cater?
There's a small river nearby that feeds into the ocean and I recall from Amy Ant's illustrations that there was a bridge: should we have a pooh sticks competition as well?
Any other ideas?

would that be a friendly game of pooh sticks or the triathlon version being considered?

'I just love it when I can teach people basic common sense'
*sighs*
People have to be *taught common sense these days? That certainly explains a lot of the behaviour I see around me daily.
That's Cesar Milan, by the way. The quote, that is.
Party? On the beach?

And because I've had Touhou on the mind (a new spinoff-game and the first demo of the next mainline game just got released), all I can think of is pie-danmaku -- which is to say, giant swarms of thrown pies, moving around in pretty patterns you don't dodge so much as navigate. I really ought to get to work on that article, I must be two major releases behind ...
As for my financial situation: I've just been informed that I'm being rejected now because I was not accepted by 1 July 2011. Yes, I don't know how that makes sense either, but that's red tape for you.

I should probably sit out the pie fight. Now that I think of it, probably the Pooh sticks, too--I don't need to be blown out to sea...

Ti: 'People have to be *taught* common sense these days?'
I'm glad they didn't teach it when I was younger. I'm pretty sure I would have failed the test.

Well, it's picnic. We should stick with the "soft" version of pooh sticks.
And have fireworks and a bonfire after dark.

Not that kind of soft! I meant soft as in gentle. If some of you gentlemen want to go Cloggies, I'll sell tickets.

I forgot to mute my phone last night, and recieved some messages at 0130 this morning. I haven't slept since. Going to be a long day. My body is completely confused as to where it is and my mind befuddled with massive culture shock and an inability to understand 99% of the conversation around me.
It has been an enlightening and educational experience, however, and I think it will go a long way toward fostering a healthy and productive relationship between my office and the Cairo office. It's easy to dehumanize someone at the end of an email chain, or on the other side of a computer screen. Getting to know each other removes many of the barriers that were inherent to our lack of proximity.
Had a very interesting discussion with one of my colleagues last night about the political landscape. How the average Muslim sees the USA and how it's such a tiny yet powerful minority of people who are creating unrest. He put it as CNN shows what happens in the 2 square kilometers of Tahir Square yet it ignores the other 999,999,998 square kilometers of Egypt. That was a powerful message to me.

It always is - I wholeheartedly agree with your view on actually meeting people 'out there' (otherwise, I'd be for travelling like that for ... *mumble, mumble, 20-mumble* years). And you always get a bit of a differnet world-view with you home - if you can listen, of course. Which, of course, you have just demostrated that you can
.
Welcome to Gingersnapper & Tavaron da Quirm
I'll happily participate in a Gentlemanly Pooh stick contest - I'd rather eat pies than throw them around, though...
