Heya.
It occured to me earlier that there's very little ... overlap, between the various online communities I visit. H2G2, RPGClassics, Ragnarok Wisdom ...
And then it occurred to me that I'm here for the people, moreso than the site's stated purpose. And that is pretty much the entire definition of "community," really.

The Literature (note capital L) all categorises web communities from the outside, by purpose; (mainly by how profits are made), but I think it's far richer to describe them in ethnigraphic / anhropological terms. One of my insights from my dissertation, that.
