Brilliant to see so many returning. This must be one of the fastest growing threads ever. Dare not miss more than 24 hours or the backlog is phenomenal.

There'll be "proper" elections at some point, we're all temporary in our roles ad community representatives. So if you fancy running for chairman (amongst other roles) you'll be able to. it's hard work though this volunteering business.

I think also the fact that accounts that didn't survive BBC sign-on changes can be recovered is helping with the influx.

I find that I really like being a CE. It has stimulated me to get out of the salon, explore, and meet new people.

How confusing these online dictionaries/thesauruses are - hey, has Ag's pet made it here yet?

Cambridge online recognises 'limbo' but Merriam Webster doesn't. Ho hum.

Oooo... found a link to a visual thesaurus on the Cambridge dictionary site - too but it only allowed me to play a little bit with it, I can totally see how it fits with the way my mind works

Oh wow, I just had the most serious flashback when seeing nim the cat post in the returnee thread. I hadn't been a reseracher for long and, like the blithering idiot I probably came across as (and probably were, until I learnt a bit more) I posted a question, but not in Ask, but by creating a journal. A common newbie mistake, I've discovered.

To imagine that in those days, even journals would be noticed because there weren't a whole lot of active threads...

You know, all of these oldies returning is going to seriously limit my gaming time - sooo many people to catch up with - but such a pleasant and joyous distraction!

Not just your gaming time, Ti. I've not played Forza for over 24 hours and Skyrim's just around the corner.

I have no idea where Roget is just now. Last I saw, he was roaming around behind the greenhouses. When I got him, he was about the size of a labrador, but what with all the rich, RICH, vocabulary Salonistas kept feeding to him, he rapidly got to the size of a Shire horse. And then he found the Complete Works of Shakespeare and had to go live outdoors. He's now about the size of a small elephant, and gives rides. I daren't teach him another language. He'd end up the size of a planet. With horns and a crest and a spiked tail and a great bony skull-frill and all (thesauri look like rather sleek and handsome dinosaurs, naturally, and Roget looks most like a triceratops. He needs the head-space, you see, that you just can't get on a brontosaurus).
