At what point does this change from a "Cold Snap" to "Winter"?

Montana's weather is running parallel to the UK: just cold and grey here. Give me snow, give me sun, give me rain, give me *something*.
Still...it's better than being in Haiti. Terrible pictures coming out of Port-au-Prince.

Cold and grey here, too. The snow and ice are still around as well.
The cold snap has, however, ensured that the seed pods on the very large tree in garden have disappeared this year. It did look rather sad last summer with the previous years pods and the lovely green leaves.

I remember Michael Fish saying that Britain has two kinds of weather: rainy and unsettled.
Bea, remind us next week when you're on the front page!
Right then. I have chores to do and some restoration to do as well. I've been jiggering around with a badly damaged photo, seeing whether there's something I can do to fix it without making it look too artificial.

It is gray here as well, but our temperatures have recovered. It is around 50ºF. We have a chance of rain. From the looks of the sky, we could get it.
Horrible situation in Haiti. Pat Robertson has weighed in, as usual.

The surgeon's just phoned me to say that Mr T's op went well. I'm going back to see him in a wee whilie.

I didn't know Mr T was having an op. Nothing to concerning, I do hope. Take him a from concerned wierdos, please!

Teuchter, hugs and best wishes from me too. And fond hopes for a speedy recovery.
(Who the 'eck is Pat Robertson and why would anything such an obviously intellectually disarranged person said be NEWS? I'm not being entirely facetious, neither).

Ag, Robertson is a Southern preacher with his own television network. He has also run for President. He didn't get the nomination, obviously, but he has quite a following. He makes these outrageous statements that you or I would find both repulsive and laughable. It always amazes me that so many people find him credible.

The ambassador to Haiti was on the Rachel Maddow show last night, appearing directly after Rachel had commented on Pat Robertson's odious remarks. The ambassador asked permission to address those remarks, then pointed out that, thanks to the Haitian slave rebellion (the only successful slave rebellion ever), America was able to acquire land from the financially strapped France for three cents an acre, what we call the Louisiana Purchase. That, said ambassador Raymond Joseph, pretty much made America a beneficiary of that so-called pact with the devil.
Robertson is a moran.

The following link is a diary on dailykos that, although not particularly well-written, has an embedded video clip of the ambassador's comments.

Surreally, the Bank of Scotland was looking at a joint banking venture in the US with Pat Robinson in the late 1990s. But the deal backed itself into a corner and finally went s up because the UK is not as homophobic as Robinson.
His final verdict on Scotland was that it was "a dark land overrun by homosexuals".
The whole situation was really beyond any kind of comment.

Scotland is a WHAT? I am totally moving to Scotland. Gothic Sapphism is utterly irresistible.

And that is a brilliant comment - much better than anything Pat Robertson could ever have wet dreams of uttering. Moran he is indeed.
Been to a parents' meeting at 16's school - about school things inn general (as so very many things have changed in the way high school works compared to when we were at it) and about the choices they have to make now for "voluntary classes" in the 2nd year. Voluntary in what subjects, not in whether or not to have them at all, mind you.
Running of a spiffing new router - the old one had random issues with not letting us on to the interweb. Somewhere between weekly and hourly someone had to pull the power plug from it, count to 7 (117 is this was the third time in one evening) and restart it. Hope that Cisco/Linksys does a better job than Netgear.

Sat V that joke had me in fitts on the joke thread
i had to explain to a 'guest' that could not help him with his problem and he had to speak to the manager in reception
i then had to explain the same thing again to him 5 times
so i was wondering if i had suddenly become fluent in swahilli or some thing and was speaking it aloud unknown to me?????
