The only true university town I've lived in is Columbia. I enjoyed it. There was so much energy. I also enjoyed the watering holes frequented by the students. You could have some amazing conversations in them. Mind you, this was before my brain turned to mush. And I still follow Mizzou, proudly wear the black and gold, even though some years it's rather painful to do so.
From about 4 o'clock on yesterday afternoon, we've had one wave of electrical storms after another. Over 3 inches of rain. The sky is still dark and threatening. I hope the weather wherever you are is sunny.
Marv, I hope today isn't too awful.

Belated Happy Birthday, Marv.
IT's a nice, sunny day here, thanks, Hyp.
Hope the weather will improve where you are.

Heading to the church in about an hour for my sister's memorial service. I'll be fine, just going to be there to support my nieces.

Acupuncture day. It's my last session till mid-October, after which we are going to do some adjustments.
And then tomorrow I am going to try to rearrange my walk-in closet, at least the bits I can reach.

I'm sorry if this is repeating a conversation, but has acupuncture helped you, Lil? I'm thinking of visting one, but I wonder what the effects are and if it's worth the money and the trip.

Depends on what you want it for. It doesn't cure a syrinx, but it works on a lot of side effects I have, side effects from lack of exercise and muscle tone, for example. It helps me. I don't have unrealistic expectations.
Why would you seek acupuncture treatment? Do you have chronic pain?

No, but I have all-roung general tiredness. I can't seem to shift it. It's not acute, like ME, but it's enough to make life, not hard, but that bit more difficult that it should be.
Although I'm having a blood test next week to see if it's anything that they can detect (like a anaemia or diabetes), when they did that a year ago they came up clean.
An acupuncturist might be able to detect something conventional medicine misses. I'm not expecting a cure, but if she finds something that would be great.

Well, diagnosis and remedy are two different things. I would hope that, once you know what the problem is, the acupuncturist would tell you up front whether or not they could do something about it.

Well, the person I'm going to see is my best friend. It's just a shame she lives to far away or I would have been to see her sooner (though, truth be told, I hadn't even thought of actupuncture until recently, even though she qualified a couple of years ago).

Vip, I agree that it's worth a try. I've talked to several people who had good results with various conditions by using accupuncture. I ony tried it once, decades ago, trying to get relief from pain. Trouble is, my pain was caused by ruptured disks and the accupuncture ddin't do me any good. We tried the TENS unit around that same time. That didn't help much, either.

I'm sorry for your loss, Marv. Hope you had a good birthday, despite everything else going on.
Hyp, the moorchicks will probably be alright, because there are several non-library ladies who feed them, but the ducks may not fare so well, as it's usually library people who have brought them food and water in the past. I'm not even sure how much of the garden they used to nest in is left! If Mrs Duck does come back perhaps she will join the moorhens in the big pond - although they might not take too kindly to this! Otherwise, she might just have to find somewhere else to make her nest.
Phil, I think the pacemaker is working! I walked up the hill to my house quite speedily today without getting out of breath!
I'm still liking the new building (despite what I've written on my Facebook page!) but our office is almost unbearably hot, which on top of all the stressiness of trying to supervise and help people when I don't know what I'm doing and haven't got time to do it all, is making me rather grumpy. Hopefully the air cooling system will be mended soon. The rest of the building is OK, it's just our office! but

I'm off on holiday to the Continong tomorrow morning. I doubt I'll have internet access, so please excuse my disappearing into the wide blue yonder for a week or so. Wishing much loveliness and coolness to all Salonistas in my absence. Also, and chicken soup to unwell comrades.
I don't believe in astrology, but astrology certainly believes in me. It has taken me TWO WEEKS to sort out registration with the Open University, and every message I sent them or they sent me, went astray in those two weeks. I actually spoke to a human this evening and she was utterly mystified by the amazing disappearing emails, phone messages, and letters. Also, work has become a peculiar game of telephone tag, lost post-it notes and wrong-end-of-stick-grasping, and everything I have had to do I have had to do TWICE therefore. Bother that Freddie planet. It had better not mess with flight tomorrow. I am NOT in the mood. I will BITE.
