Actually, anything under 500' would make me nervous. So I want to live on a *mountainous* island!

Well we haven't got mountains but our hills are pretty good.

Life begins at 4K feet for me. Low elevations are sometimes trying for me. I feel like I am drowning in air.

That's a good way to put it Marv. I'm fidgetty below 800' so I'm ok lower down. But I need to be able to stretch my eyes. I like to look across to the sky, not up at it.

I must be an odd duck. Altitudes between sea level and about 8000 feet don't bother me at all. I mean, my ears pop when I come out of the Sierras and all that, but otherwise, no differences for me. I'm sure there a physiological ones, but I don't feel them.
People who live in apartment buildings should not allow their small children to play outside at 7 in the morning. That's all I'm saying.

I don't have problems with varying altitudes--though I've lived most of my life below 200ish', I did spend a few years in and around Reno *googles* OK, that's only 4,500'... My main problem is transitioning--I once spent a couple of hours (OK, maybe half an hour once we'd returned to the lower elevation, but it felt eternal) in near tears before (about 10-15 years ago), because my ears would*not* pop coming down from7,500' to 1,900'. Fortunately, Faith appears to have inherited Tom's eustation tubes--he feels no discomfort whatsoever, and thinks my swallowing, yawning, jaw thrusting, and earlobe pulling a bit odd (gum chewing doesn't really work for me).

Mol - on the new tablet Posted Sep 3, 2009
I'd like to be at a certain height (and with a liveable-on patch of land) for when sea levels rise. Some years ago there was a chance we'd be relocating to Lincolnshire. I did a lot of work with Ordnance Survey maps checking out the contours.

The only time I've been affected by altitude is when I was just below 11,000 feet atop Beartooth Pass on the Montana-Wyoming border. The moment I stepped out of my car I felt like I was . It was awesome; I was so high, I could see the curvature of the .
And that's high as in altitude...not as in .

Mol, that must have been hard work. I didn't think there were many contour lines in Lincolnshire (at least not above mean sea level).
