Oh, and I'm afraid I won't be bringing smiley - ale to the Salon - after three hours of calling, I didn't get through on the telephone line. smiley - sadface

Ah well. At least the weather has held. I'll go out for a walk this afternoon.

Looks like the university have some problems. Network outage because of a man in a digger. The moral of this story, don't let a man with a digger too close to your cables

Am considering to take an early afternoon - half the corridor's empty anyway due to the autumn school holiday this week. Since it does involve getting back on the bike, I'm a little hesitant, though smiley - winkeye

Bad luck with the smiley - ale, Vip.

A lab supply company I worked with (not at) in a previous life had a tough two weeks at one point when a cable company had shot a cable under a major road nearby. And in the process severed the main telephone cable under that road. Thousands of connections - something like 20 or 40 from memory - were cut off and had to be spliced back together by two men (shifts, I reckon) working in a wee manhole. The lab company had to run their entire busines off two mobile phones or so... No fax, no internet, no normal phone!

So yeah, don't let people with diggers near your cables!

I'm not ready for halloween masks yet!

Had our photo session on saturday - it was hellish. Both boys ill, and I don't think we got the one thing I really wanted - a picture with all four of us smiling. I was so stressed that I cried when we came out even though the photographer was great and really did her best. She said we could have a reshoot if there is really nothing.

Have forgotten what I wanted to say from the backlog so general smiley - hugs and smiley - stiffdrink and s all round.

That was pretty cool Santra.

MR, have you used Aleene's Tacky Glue? Great stuff.

My eyes are so blurry from pollen that I can barely see. So I apologize if I've missed something I should have caught.

Hope T is having a relaxing time on holiday.

Mmm, men in diggers and cables.

The builders who were working at my school once poured two tons of concrete into a hole. Through the hole ran an unsupported cable. The combination cut off power to four thousand homes, and three schools.
Six hours later, we were still heating the science department by bunsen burner.

On the subject of Steampunk, MR, and knowing you're a mean hand with a cake:

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence

Well, I ~could~ start the new thread now, but it's a bit late for Europe. I thought I'd have a preamble prepared a lot earlier, but the flesh isn't just weak, it's tired and cranky. One of my legs doesn't want to go with the rest of my body when I try to turn over; that'll wake you up completely in the middle of the night! I'm not getting more than a couple of hours of sleep at a time.

On the other hand, my back, while twingey, has not seized up and I'm getting occasional use of those legs. I remain optimistic.

So, tomorrow morning for sure. 9CX.

Now, what was it I'd wanted to comment on? Dang. I never heard of steampunk. Is that a particular band or a style, and does it owe anything to The Diamond Age?
