They can do, the service is offered at department stores. We asked not to have any, as we knew it would cost a bomb for anyone attending, as they all live so far away. Friends of mine have asked fro contributions towards a honeymoon fund too.

I'm consolidating the knowledge gained on the 3 day course and final exam (passed) by switching off with a beer in a nice bar near the training venue. Last time I was in here was with that Bald Bloke of this parish.
I can remember Lewis's department store in this city. The building is still there and still looks impresive at the top of the main shopping drag even though Lewis's has been long gone.

Oh yeah, I meant to tell y'all what course I've just done. Mac OS X 10.5 101 Support Essentials.
I did the previous version of this but didn't take the exam (it was included in the course this time) a few years ago. Now to see if I can get work to pay for some of the higher level courses that may be more use to my job...

maybe. There are others here with longer mac experience than me and a lot of what I do at work isn't related to home use (and I don't have mac experience outside of work).

This seemed to be a topic of discussion for a post or three back there: I get my hair cut a few times a year, I get a full body massage (love 'em, love 'em, love 'em) once or twice a year, and I've never had a manicure or pedicure. I don't like people messing with my feet; I'm terribly ticklish there. My massage therapist is on strict orders to apply a lot of pressure to my feet. A good friend's pree-teen daughter *tried* to give me a pedicure a few years back. The moment she touched my toes I let out a yelp and jumped out of the chair I was sitting in. So much for that.
This is my day off from work. It's 11:06am, and I'm still in my pajamas. Sometimes it's the little things that bring us joy.

If the Lewis's you're talking about is John Lewis, then I was unsuccessful in finding our forthcoming bride registered. Not that I'm particularly surprised at thet, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to look.
Vip, I've never heard of anyone around here asking for money for the honeymoon, but it's possible that some do. Is that in addition to a gift or in lieu of one?
I love weddings. But I think it's unnecessary to spend a king's ransom to have a lovely one. I know couples who have spend outrageous amounts only to break up soon afterward. What a waste. Have a nice but simple wedding and use all the money you didn't spend on a downpayment for a house or something practical.

Indeed. I can't remember the last time I woke up only at 10:30 and then spent half an hour finishing a book before I got up. And then did stuff, followed by laziness and some CivIV playing.
Still, got the garden paths trimmed and stuff. And now 13, 15 (still in her PJs from this morning) and I will go upstairs and do the tough negotiations of which DVD to watch...

Z and I don't really need wedding presents. We have a surfeit of possessions already. When someone else asked about them, I suggested donations to Relate: http://www.relate.org.uk/
Z looked a little disconcerted when I told him this.

Gifts of money tend to be instead of traditional presents. Most couples have lived together for a while have have all the traditional wedding presents (cutlery, crockery etc.) so it makes sense to ask people for things other than those!

Evening all
Here is a true story about a dog who managed to telephone the police, with the police trying to talk to the dog but could not get the dog to answer back. The police did not know it was a dog on the other end of the phone. Here is the story which I read on yahoo news:
