Lil said, "I slept soundly and awoke late this morning, with cats standing guard all around the bedroom. Hungry cats who had been expecting breakfast 2 hours earlier."
Are you positive they were standing guard, and not sizing up the choicest parts?
Glad to hear you slept well; after getting out of hospital a few years back, it took me a month to sleep "nprmally".
Hi to all the delurkers, Milla, and B'elana, and any others I've missed. the more the merrier!
I'm hoping I'm going to miss the blue pants, as it's been very hot here lately.
GDZ, I hope your wedding went well, and things will soon settle down to a comfortable family life, kids and all.

How disturbing, MR.
I'm glad we only we get the wee-est of wobbles, infrequently, in this neck of the woods.
There's the teeniest chance Mr T may be in Europe this week or next
Speaking of travelling, that was some weekend, Ben. I wondered what you were up to.

Tiger turned up at about 4:00am, with his ears rimed with fleas. Black with them. I've not seen so many fleas on one cat for well over a decade. He'd obviously been down the hole.

*shudders at the thought of fleas
* shudders again at the thought of dealing with them at four in the morning

Happy birthday Phil!

They do indeed do Frontline for cats, but he's been crawling down rabbit holes and scraped them off the inside of the rabbit holes with his ears. They may be dead fleas jumping, but they are still fleas and still jumping.
I ought to find out if they do Frontline for people.
At least they are rabbit fleas and not rat fleas, so there's not that much chance of bubonic plague.

PS - I've got a can of spray for the furniture and the house.
Chemicals. Gotta love those chemicals.

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013 Posted May 18, 2009
Oh
I have just spent an hour (and have about an hour still to do) scraping egg off of all kitchen surfaces, including the ceiling. Good lord, when will I learn to stand over boiled eggs until they are done rather than popping off to do something else and forgetting about them? This one has exploded really quite spectacularly.

Nope, I managed to burn a boiled egg. It wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't done it many times before! I forgot I'd put it on, the water boiled away and the egg then exploded all over the kitchen. Think I might get away with it, although the ceiling does now have a slight yellowy hue.

Put a small pin hole in the blunt end, you can buy nifty little machines to do it, or use a skewer. Stops the eggs cracking as they boil as well.

Do you have a gas cooker or electric? I have an electric, with heavy cast iron plates. I've learned to boil eggs the following way:
Put eggs in cold water in pot on cooker.
Cover with lid (yes, really)
Turn on heat to full.
STAY AND WATCH
When the eggs start 'jumping' in the pot, turn off heat completely.
Leave pot on plate, still with lid.
When eggs stop 'jumping', they are done.
Rinse in cold water to make peeling (shelling?) easier
They may turn green if you leave them unattended, but I very much doubt that they would explode...

You have a very good excuse for forgetting the eggs, Kelli; two small boys
I have no such excuse for my forgetfulness and now have to use the kitchen timer to remind me of the passage of time.
