Good afternoon, folks. I just voted on the poll. The Celery is now tied with DD, with 5 votes each.

Pierrot: Aaaaawwwk, wouldn't let me vote.

Drinking beer out of glasses is a good idea, much more civilised. I've not seen beer severd in glasses with handles for a long time but it's nice to see that you've got some proper sized imperial pint glasses there Lil - takes a straight sided one and fills with OJ.

*Wonders if he should bring some Bass as he's spent the weekend near Burton on Trent*

Did you have good fishing? Catch any bass in the Trent?

The only fishing I saw was that of a group of people who capsised their dragon boat at the Burton reggata smiley - winkeye

Bald bloke, thanks for the pointer to the poll, I'll be on my way as soon as I wash my hands -- just finished my first sculpture! Have a look at

Darn... I was hoping to see some of the clothing frustrations you had mentioned. smiley - winkeye

It does look a bit... ummm... indecent, don't you think? And she looks a bit too... err... perky... are those real? smiley - tongueout

I must say, it does look rather nice. And as I have only one artistic bone in my body, and that one rather remote and inaccessible, I'll refrain from making further disparaging comments. smiley - winkeye

*surprised* Oh, you don't put clothes on classical allegories! And ... perky? Indecent? Seriously, I don't think so, but ... I'll get an opinion on it. I thought it was quite aesthetic, the positioning, considering how the smaller statue has to rely on the larger one for support in that stepping-in-the-water position.

Can I actually have an artistic controversy on my hands?

Colonel, your thoughts quite drove out of my head what I had started out to comment on. Sporky, what did Crosswinds DO? I have been to the URL you gave above, and there clearly is a matter of contention.

Indecent! *goes to the kitchen for champagne and OJ* Heavens, and on a Sunday!

Its art therefore to quote Kenny Everett as Cupid Stunt "Its all done in the best possible taste"

Lil as for painting out the awkward details well...
I always thought classical sculpture is the one place you don't need to, wasn't it the Victorians who went round adding fig leaves to statues?

Amy The Ant, welcome to Lils. Our host must have missed your post. She seems to have an artistic crisis on her hands.

Lil, the Mexican Wave originated in, believe it or not - Mexico, when that country hosted the Olympic Games in 1968. It entails sections of seated spectators taking turns in standing upright with raised hands so creating a wave effect. The modern version entails people doing the above while throwing plastic cups full of beer up in the air.

I didn't know it was the Mexican Wave. It's rather popular in the States at sporting events, but is known simply as "The Wave."

Hmm... Lil seems to be getting flustered every time I comment lately. I wonder if I'm beginning to have an effect.

I still love you, you know. smiley - winkeye

Amy, I am sorry I missed you. As you can see, I was in the middle of having a turn when you posted, and I rushed off to the PTB shortly thereafter, visions of obscenity trials in my head.

Colonel, you're a very sweet young man. You see how seriously I take things on a Sunday. *sits down at puzzle table* Did you see the wonderful ode that Redbeard wrote in the guest book?

Welcome Amy. It's always like this here. Have you met the sloth, Mindspring. She's very sweet and docile, but don't give her any donuts.

Oh! You've reminded me that I have to update my user page -- I still have the old larkfarm details there.

Everybody, Looney is talking about the OTD list, OTD standing for Offsite Topic Drift. You might ask yourself why you would want to be on a general discussion list with h2g2 researchers when we're all here anyway -- and it's difficult to explain why, but everybody who's a part of it really finds it a good thing to be part of.

Would y'all tell me the brands of beer I should be buying in? Nobody seems to have touched the six-pack of Bud Lite I brought in this morning. *goes to the kitchen to wash out glasses, stand them on the rack to drive, and gets more champagne*

Heineken is my beer of choice Lil. At the moment though I am enjoying a glass or three of NZ's "Seifried Old Coach Road Chardonnay 1999."

A faintly honeyed, vigorous chardonnay, full of all sorts of tropical aromas, exotic flavours and rustic asides and no worse for any of them. Hardly the type of wine to get the purists going, but it is as friendly as a labrador with dirty paws so it will find favour with those who like their wine exuberant. Am almost dry white with a sense of humour, it's as easy to drink as anything in glass, and not too hard on the pocket, either. $NZ15.

She bought Bud Lite?!

Relax, dude. She's new.

I should hope so. She didn't taste any of it, did she?

I don't think so. Her mouth isn't puckered up like she swallowed a lemon, and I didn't notice her trying to shave her tongue.

Good. I hate when I have to do that.

Anything dark will be okay by me. And do yourself a favor, and avoid the American macrobrews. If you're a natural beer-hater, it's because you've tried these.
