This is nice. It's bitterly cold outside but I'm all cosy with a fire popping in the grate and cats competing to snuggle up against me, and a decent Kinsey Milhone mystery to finish. Not to mention my secret vice, fruit jello with tinned fruit in it and cool whip on top. I have no class.

Having been your guest, I'm going to disagree with you there. Though Joe does have a tendency to bring down the tone of any gathering...

Garius! Lovely to see you again!!
I was an alabaster girl, then went goo when I got the mac. Loads better.
It was busier at work than I'd hoped, and the papers were so dreadful, that I spent some time hanging out with the philosphers I know, and had a lovely time. Much better than grading, but now I'm pressed for time, and still don't want to grade...

I must be the only Brunel Baby then - but since he's summat of a local hero where I come from, Gods Wonderful Railway and all, it would be rude not to. Also I like it.
I'm plain at work though.
Good to see you Garius!
I landed on H2G2 in the summer of 2000 and Marv invited me into the salon sometime in 2001. I found my first Salon post the other day but lost it again.
The modding adds an air of raffish mystery to proceedings don't you think? Makes us look like we're living life on the edge?
I must admit I'm rather enjoying the fact we're having a winter this winter, with s and everything. Makes a change from the only seasonal differences being hours of daylight and temperature.
Got a one hour one-to-one with my boss's boss's boss today. *gulp*

Waves to Garius, Ben.
Dark and dry this morning, could be a nice sunny day, which means an early and

Hi Garius! Nice to meet you...I've certainly heard you mentioned a lot here, and heard the strange noises from down in the Labs.
Always been a Goo Grrl, because I like the color and it's easier on my eyes. I've been kicking around hootoo since 11.5.99 (interesting how many of us started that Fall), but only been in the Salon for three years or so.
As for the Holiday Season, I'm having trouble getting in the spirit this year. I lost both Dad (in February) and Step Mom (last month). I've been homeless the past year (and will have to move from where I've been staying very shortly, as soon as my court case is over). I gave away all my stuff, so I don't have my decorations anymore anyway. Just can't seem to find my feet for now, but I'll come back to my center again, soon.

Happy birthday Mags and d'E! *speaks pointedly to spud about birthdays and how this would be a good day to have one*
I joined in July 2001 and my first posting was a question about making good coffee. Gnomon answered the question within minutes.

Happy birthdays!
I'm a Brunel user as well. It appeals to me in my inmost being, somehow. Sorry.
*waves to Garius and searches for the s that he knows are around here somewhere*

Last night was good, apart from a somewhat overeager gentelman admirer, but i was rather
as was he.

Whoo. There's a distinct air of nostalgia in here today.
Nice to meet you Garius Lupus.
Happy Birthdays, Magwitch and d'E.
Mags, your is a small but perfectly formed dehumidifier. Useful in cellars, it also works well as a popcorn maker - but don't, for goodness sake, touch the orange button.
d'E, your is a small and very glittery box. I'm not actually sure what it does, to be perfectly honest, but it seemed like a good idea. It doesn't seem to have an orange button ...
Ben
I shall worry until you come back here and tell us how it went.
Irv, I'm glad your weekend was a success.
Spacecadette, I shall worry about you too. Being stressed to the eyeballs is not a good place
I'm sure there was more I was going to say - but my brain is taking industrial action today and won't co-operate.

Oh, it's not a SCARY meeting, other than the fact that he's so high up the ladder you'd normally only see the soles of his feet. He's genuinely interested in taxonomy. I think it's an opportunity for the two of us to get mildly geeky.
However....
I made the mistake of washing my hair last night. We don't have a smiley, do we?
I look decidely witchy today. Think Grandma Adams rather than Angelica Huston.
Vanity, vanity all is vanity.

Badda-boom - tish!
I use Brunel at home, and plain at work, and sometimes when I'm being the Post Team I end up in Goo, which I find very strange and scary, and I always worry that I'm going to cause irreparable damage.
Decs are up chez nous, tis one of my favourite bits of the season, duly accompanied by fizz and mince pies. This week is particularly celebration-filled: Monday night was the Scottish dancing Christmas party (this verges on Womens Institutional what with cups of tea poured from giant pots, sandwiches filled with cream cheese and pineapple, and hostess trollies groaning under cream cakes. We did some dancing too.)
Tomorrow night is my daughter's school carol service, Friday is an accountants charriddeee lunch, Saturday we take Dai's young 'un to see Santa at the zoo.
I have most of my presents bought and wrapped ( or music written...) but have not done a single card. I may just ignore that tradition.

Can I go back to sleep again. I thought I'd got over everything and apart from feeling a bit run down after being ill, I was better. Then I managed to stay awake half the night coughing. I'm not very awake right now, but I'm in work and I did manage to forget my diabetes stuff. I think it'll be a short day today (colleagues were surprised to see me).
