Agapanthus thank you thank you tahnk you! smiley - hug

That Finale demo was exactly what I needed - Ok it's taken me all afternoon to install and work out how to use, but it's been amazing hearing my piece played with a proper oboe sound, plus I identified one error in my writing, which was what I wanted it for.

Brilliant!

*curtseys* Glad to be of service, Beatrice.

Have spent afternoon in cramped unheated theatre. Am now bag of feverish muscle spasms. Hurrah.

That software looks (sounds?) extremely cool Ag and Beatrice.

Ag - what did you go and see?

Z and I are just planning out our cultural exchanges for the next few weeks. So far we have Cindarella, The Nutcracker, Circus of Horrors and The Inspector Calls.

Yes sharing the schedule of our local theatre has rather ruled out any surprises at all. Though it's within walking distance of my house and the cheap seats are quite affordable so we orght to go more often.

I've had a friend to stay this weekend, and had a very nice chilled time doing Not Very Much. I have even got all domestic and done my own laundry because I'm feeling poor and I'd rather do laundary than cleaning. Well I say done laundry I've just put the laundry in the washing machine and took it out again, which is something I rather often struggle to do. Sadly.

I'm glad you have your mom home, Marv. It must have been frightening for all of you. smiley - hug

Just got home from spending the day with my mother. She's not having a good day. This season always makes her sad and weepy, and now she has to deal with the first Christmas without Lady C. *sigh* I planned to spend some time reorganizing bookshelves this evening, but now I just want to veg. My nerves are about shot. I thought my Christmas tree might cheer her up. That clearly didn't work.

Goodness gracious, look at the time. It's gin o'clock.

Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.")

Good night all.

smiley - cuddle for Hyp. The first Christmas without a loved one is simply horrible. I hope your mother enjoys at least some of it. S's aunt died at Christmas a few years ago, and the next Christmas (that one she died during being obviously a complete wipe-out) we all rallied round and hired a holiday home for that week and just accepted that there would be times when people would cry, or need to go on very long walks, or rush into their bedrooms and bang the door. But we still had a tree and a proper dinner and fairytale amateur theatricals (this is a Tradition with a Capital TRALALA with S's family. I played a snooty duck and then a movie agent with a giant cigar. On other occasions I have played a little pig with no sense of architectural soundness, a good fairy, a wood-cutter's wife, a bad fairy with Amy Winehouse hair (I nearly had to cut it all off to get the tangles out. Never let a nine-year-old back-comb you) and Cinderella's step-mother). S's grandmother spent the entire play in floods of tears, and then made us do it again, twice, once for a parcel bemused visitors. And there was plenty of door-slamming and howling in corners. But now S's grandmother talks of it as one of the best family christmasses ever. Point of exceedingly lengthy anecdote, it's very hard to tell what is and is not cheering a person up when they are so overwhelmed with grief. The lovely Christmas tree may have cheered your mother up really, and she will remember it as lovely, but the grief gets in the way NOW. It won't be in the way later. I hope. smiley - hug

What Ag said, Hyp. My Ma who looked backwards though life would wax nostalgic about events she'd been chillily disdainful of at the time. Case in point, she became all nostalgic about the four of us helping her and my Pa move out of their home and in to a nursing home the within four weeks of my big Bro and big Sis catching their planes home. "Wasn't it fun" she said wistfully. But at the time she'd loathed it. Poor woman. Once I realised that it put a whole new perspective on my life up until that point.

We need a smiley really.

>> it's within walking distance of my house and the cheap seats are quite affordable

What are these cheap seats of which you speak? In my experience cheap seats in theatres are one of the falsest of false economies.

I'm coping, just about. My sleep patterns are so messed up that I'm probably in Australia. I woke up at 5 pm yesterday and haven't slept yet.
Once I get onto campus today I'll self-certificate for being ill on Friday. It turned out to be a more justified sick day than I expected, but I'm better now. Then I'll try and find someone to copy results from, so I can at least do the write-up for the experiment.

And I'll probably have a migraine this evening or tomorrow due to wrenching my sleep patterns around in order to attend lectures, which will once again reset my body clock to being nocturnal.

My body hates me and I hate it back.

Runescribe, I apologize if my bad student habits have rubbed off on you. At least I won't get the migraine...of course, having the flu this weekend pretty much chucked all my plans, and now I have to grade way too much in the next few days...
