I agree - while obviously one of those not-easy-at-all decisions, you did a right choice & not a bad-mother one!

While my divinity gently weeeeeps....
Santra, have you thought about an assisted living center for yo mama?
93Xth Conversation at Lil's
Santragenius V Posted Aug 28, 2008
Lentilla, yes - but we're (I think...) not quite there yet. But what I'm trying to make her think about is a ...whatchamacallit ... place where there's individual typically detached or semi-detached houses and only or mostly older people. Sometimes there's also a common house for gettogethers etc, sometimes not.
That way, there'd be somebody to talk to during the days - and exercise for the brain is one of the more needed things.
Only problem is that so far, I haven't found someone in the geographical area where she'd most like to live.

What a difficult situation Santra, and I know from your previous posts how difficult it is for you
MR, IMO you have saint-like qualities for not laying her out!

for Santra.
Blimey, MR. What on earth would they make of boarding schools then? D is with her FAMILY, for heck's sake. I'll hold the interfering old baggage down while you kick, if you like.
My dissertation is killing me. I am this close to junking the lot and refusing to hand it in.
I'm serious. This has been my joint-second worst summer ever and I have had it. *sigh*

Kelli, the recipe has been e-mailed to you. I think you'll like it.
Ag. You don't want to chuck it. You've invested too much time in it for that. Just keep reminding yourself how wonderful you'll feel when it's done.

Typical helicopter parent. It's not as if D isn't staying with family, for heaven's sake!

Thanks for all your support...and the offers of assistance. I think I have some residual guilt, because I actually entertained the notion for a nanosecond...

>>Irv, given that Santra's not in the US, maybe people are just nicer...okay, not people, landsharks?
I suppose that's possible, but considering how *long* Attorneys have been reviled, and the number of various cultures from which lawyer jokes have originated, I'd be quite surprised. And there *are* nice attorneys in the states. What's the old saying? 99% of lawyers give the rest a bad name?

PS, MR, whoever told you that about D spending time with your folks was off their rocker. Deserves a raspberry at minimum.

For Santra
Thanks for the U-tube links Teachter very good .
I had some marrow at the weekend , well I say I had marrow , there were small slabs of pale green tastelessness in amoungst the vegatables and I am guessing it was marrow . It could have been worse I was once given marrow stuffed with mince . What is the point of growing something so utterly tasteless in the first place ? The eagle eyed amoung you will have spotted that I do not rate marrow very highly . Now celeriac thats a tasty vegatable .
Today the phone box says 'nothing' [ August ] ......

MR, I'm with everyone else about punching that person. Can we all take turns? Unless she really is so glorious that a year with her is superior to every other conceivable educational opportunity, in which case I change my mind.
After looking at the walnut link, I realized that those green things I keep finding in my back yard are walnuts. Now I have to find the tree that they're coming from. It's not in my yard, I think the squirrels are bringing them in from somewhere else.

I have a very handy cosh, if that's the case. I'm sure I could fashion something else from all the crepe I have in may garden (small fridge, anyone?) as well
