I like courgettes, though in fairness I don't eat them that often. It's worryingly hit and miss whether you get a bitter one, though.

The Italians were surprisingly indiscriminate about food - the Romans didn't differentiate between leeks and spring onions.

I'll take that as encouragement to write more, Amy. I'm really terrible about it and get scoulded fairly regularly for not updating more.
Zucchinis, properly prepared can be quite tasty. I object to them raw based on textural issues.

I LOVE zucchini (What's this zucchino business? I'm an Amurican, dagnabit.) in any form. In fact, just last night I made a pasta dish with sauted zucchini, crookneck squash, fresh corn (yellow, white and bi-color), garlic, jalapeno and cilantro, all tossed with fettucine and buttah. Lots and lots of buttah. Yum, yum.
And tonight I'm making a zucchini chocolate cake. All you zuke lovers, come on over!

I shall order some more from Wiggly Wigglers.

Oh dear, Ag, you've done it again. Was laughing so much I've just fallen off my seat.
One for the quote file, methinks.
All this talk of marrows reminds me of Stanley Baxter and his Parliamo Glasgow.

My cucmber plant has 4 cukes that are the size of zucchini. *Stretches hands apart to indicate length.* I wish they'd turn green already.

*Catches Witty's errant u and puts it back in her cucumber where it belongs*
I'm not overly fond of zucchini, I will eat it in a spaghetti sauce that has it in it already but not much else. Cucumbers I will eat raw, given the chance.

Cukes are wonderful. Never liked the texture of Zucchini in anything other than zucchini bread. Don't much like most squash, really.

I like grilled zucchini. Slice them lengthwise, marinate them in salt, black pepper, worchester and soy, then pat them dry, brush them with oil, and grill them. Delicious. I think the best way is to grill them until they're almost black, and a little crunchy.
I also like zucchini cooked in the oven with lots of garlic cloves and olive oil. Pour in a can of tomatoes halfway through, mix and deglaze the oil from the bottom, then cook for a while longer. Put in lots of mozzarella cheese and you've got a delicious ovo-lacto vegetarian meal. Or leave out the cheese and just be a vegetarian.
> Or stuffing them with something obnoxious made out of the more private and disposable parts of lambs
What is it about English cooking that requires huge lumps of meat boiled until gray? Or huge puddings, boiled until gray?

I like grilled zucchini, too. But I forgo the marinade and just dip them in italian dressing and grill. Sauteed with sumac and pepper, baked (chop up and mix with a bit of oil, spices, and monterey jack cheese and bake), and grated in oatmeal cookies. Really.
And just wanted to say that if FG is making chocolate zucchini cake, get in line. I *love* it. Soooo good!
I like 'em raw, too. In salad.

You haven't actually nagged me much Amy. Or is that because I said maybe next year?
"keep the stuf that I bought as it is Literature, even the trashy murder-mysteries"
Of course trashy murder mysteries are literature, it's just a matter of waiting long enough - look at Agatha Christie.
Taysiders In Space is good and has inspired me to type "Rab C Nesbitt" into YouTube's search box. "Set phasers tae malkie."

As an addendum I've discovered that Cassanova wasn't the first time I saw David Tennant on telly - he appeared in Rab C Nesbitt as Davina several years previously.

'Marrows' for squash/zucchini*/courgettes was new to me, I must admit. Wonder if it tastes as nice (I do think so, yes) as the other three?
*I did write the whole thing in plural, didn't I?
In major family news (read: difficulties), my Mother phoned today and happily announced that she'd put her apartment for sale as "I don't want to live here anymore". And the 20 or so decisions that need to go along with such a thing? Nary an idea.
Did I report that her forgetfulness has now been labeled (exact quote): 'Alzheimer's (probable)'? She's on a medicine that's supposed to be very good at stabilising the condition and, with luck, even may reduce confusion and such. (Exelon, I think, for those medically inclined - no recollection of the chemical name).
So as an only child, I guess I'm in for some lodging selling and buying. Through some dumb luck, a local lawyer ran a free 2-hour session today on the pitfalls of buying and selling property. Even more lucky, I left w**k early, went shopping and saw their poster. And thrice lucky - I was the only one appearing, so I got a high-intensity exclusive go-through which meant it was done in an hour and tailored to my needs On top of that, the lady was very nice, good at explaining, quite funny and to my untrained lawyer-ear very knowledgeable. So she may well get some business once we get to the buying property stage.
Needed to vent that - as Mrs SG V is on SMS-distance in Jutland, you became innocent bystanders

Well, I can bring them with me in a plastic bag with some of their luvverly compost, Teuchter. They arrived at mine by post after all.
Just had a very nasty twenty minutes while doing some archeology - er - filing. I found a bank statement for an account that should have some savings in had about fifty quid. Ten minutes later I found another statement and discovered that it's been this way for almost three months. I finally got the instructions for the online banking for that particular cash-stash (and for a wonder managed to work out the password) and it turns out I'd whanged the money into a savings account three months ago. But I was envisaging phone calls and pleas of identity theft and other weepings and wailings and gnashings of teeth. Scary moment, because it's all rather spoken for, I am merely looking after it on behalf of the tax person.
Gah.
Right, of to look at You Tube

It sounds to me like the universe rose up to meet your needs, Santra. Still a pain, but serendipity met you half way.
