There are two dogs living at my place of residence. Maxi, the super strong dog of steel, and Serius, the super fast dog of lightning.
A labrador/beagle mix both of them (Legal Blabs). We know from experience that Maxi's tough enough to to take a car to the side and then be as fine as always after some minor surgery, and that Serius is smart enough to come back to the house for help when that occurs.
Last night I caught up with a good portion of the world's culture. First, I finally read "Crisis On Infinite Earths" (if you don't know what it is, don't worry, it really isn't that important to non-comic book people), and I finally watched "The Sixth Sense" (if you don't know what it is, then worry, it's really that important even for non-movie people).
However, I knew the endings to both before I began the experience. So while I enjoyed the thrills of both rides, I wasn't shocked by the ending of either.

Give me a cat any day. Dogs require way too much time and effort for my tastes. I don't want to have to walk a dog every few hours for the next ten years.

Our little dog usually walks my kids. She is very good at convincing them that it was about a time to go an hour ago already and soon someone will wipe the floor. So they better go. Then again, it would be irresponsible to have a baby for the dog. And useless anyway.
Sorry, my head is swollen with a grant application I am writing for the funding of the local art gallery.

Amy, you have the patience of a saint. I wonder if we should let the Hollywood Foreign Press know they gave the Golden Globe to the wrong actor for "Ray." Jamie Foxx might be a little surprised to find out all that hard work was as an understudy for Will Smith!!
As for leaving in the spelling and grammar errors...I'm surprised you did anything at all for her. I have a neighbor who has the most wonderful children, but is a complete slob/nutjob/idiot and recently got a 3 day pay or quit notice because of back rent. She's moving. Too bad, I like her daughter, but at the same time, I'm glad she's leaving. Her life is nothing but drama, and I got rid of most of that back in the mid 80s.

My died. It's sad, but if you have pets, you have to go through this. That's why I like having more than one pet. When you lose one, the others still need you and force you to pay attention to them.
I'm going to bed. I have to make an early start in the morning.

It doesn't make it much easier though... Sorry, Hyp.
Did the tourist thing yesterday, so I'm happy. I was particularly proud of my blunt explanations of who is who in the Portrait gallery, my Russian not being up to refinements. 'That's the Duke of Buckingham. The king's _very good_ *waggles eyebrows* friend. Big scandal. Yes, he's a man. Statesman. This is the king who looks like Nickolas 2nd. Yes, the one who let him die. He trashed Ireland. He trashed India. He discovered Australia and was eaten on an island. This one's the wife of the King. Whore. And this one's an actual whore. Well, she's an actress. Oh and that's Darwin.' The delight with which I greeted Richard 3rd was a bit bizarre (he's easy to explain: 'What he's MOST famous for is killing his nephews'). I also had a splendid time acting out what happened to each of Henry the 8th's six wives as I could remember neither the the word for 'divorced', 'beheaded' nor 'died of natural causes'.

Another for Hyp.
Sol, sounds just like my kind of tour.
The kitchen is still a tip from yesterday's visitors, so my day will mainly involve taming my in-tray and clearing up the kitchen.

Marv - actually, going out with the , I think, frequently is what keeps me sane. In relative terms anyway...
Especially the half hour in the forest in the morning, slooowly getting used to the thought of facing a new day is good for me. And I just know I would never get myself out from under the duvet if I didn't have Castor to "drag" me...
But just in case, we have , too. And a

Amy, I think you deserve a prize for putting up with such an arse.
(Another) belated happy birthday to Kelli.
On the subject of pets I'm not keen on either dogs (too smelly) or cats (evil wrapped in a cute exterior)... hamsters on the other hand are great pets (unfortunately our hamster had a massive stroke last year and died... but he was 18 months old so getting on a bit for a hamster).

We had snow on Saturday night... it was rubbish. Didn't settle or anything.
I want three feet of snow overnight so I've got an excuse to stay in bed.

Beautiful if very chilly sunshine here again. The sunlight is pouring the windows, and as the walls are painted a sort of golden cream, the flat is glowing and looks very lovely indeed. We first saw it on a sunny day, and I think it was this sunlight thing that made us decide 'Yes! This flat!'
I grew up on a farm, so we had dozens of cats, lots of dogs, rabbits, pigeons, chickens, ducks, endless sheep, cows, turkeys and whether we wanted them or not, mice and rats in the barns, and swallows and barn owls nesting under the house (Italian farm-houses were often built on the first floor above the stables, for warmth, I suppose). Baby barn-owls make the most terrifying and weird hissing and hoarse shrieking noises and keep you awake at night, but I did love them. I loved all the animals except the rats. But the best PETS were the cats, to my mind. I've always resented even the nicest dog's habits of being smelly when wet, bounding, licking, dribbling, fawning, barking etc. I do know this is me being slightly hung-up and slightly too introverted to enjoy noise and demands for attention (I will make a rotten parent), and as cats are so smug and superior and sardonic, I always felt flattered by their affection.
Gosh, but it is cold. I've even got my furry boots on. I think I might have to put the heating back on. Brrr.
