Titania (gone for lunch)

Phew, some backlog!

smiley - cuddle for Hyp, belated happy birthday to Kelli and hi and wlcome to hnicky!smiley - smiley

Love poems? Not very familiar with those in English, but I always liked 'To Celia' by Ben Jonson, partly because of the tune smiley - musicalnote

Glasses - had those since the age of 7 and had to get new ones each year, and once even twice in the same year when I caught up in length with the other kids in my class!smiley - yikes Extremely nearsighted and astigmatic. I tend not to use lenses very often because I feel 'naked' without glasses - but I do wear lenses when dancing Flamenco...

Hypatia, I'm sorry to hear about your smiley - cat.

The Boys are two very different smiley - cat types. Oxy is a love bunny who snuggles and purrs, Panda is the chicken type who runs away if you try to pet him, but purrs up a storm just winding around your chair. An odd boy, our Panda.

My french class is going rapidly downhill. I really should be busting my butt trying to "get" it, but I just can't seem to be bothered. Ah, well.

Who's Johnny Carson?

Mr Dreadful, Johnny Carson was an American chat show host, generally considered to be the King of Chat Show in the States. he presented the Tonight Show, didn't he? I knew he was very ill, lung disease I heard, and at least 80 years old. Poor man. RIP.

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence

I have to postpone the new thread till tomorrow. GDZ will be pleased. Sorry, y'all. Drink your gatorade and do exercises for tomorrow's race.

Santra, thank you for that link to Feisor's post about cat bathing. It was wonderful. I also loved Sol's account of giving a Russian tour of the National Gallery; it reminds me of one of the anecdotes Spalding Gray tells in "Monster in a Box", about being thrown out of the Hermitage for impersonating royalty. smiley - laugh

Happy belated birthday to kelli and a smiley - cuddle for Hyp. I've lost six cats over the years to various illnesses and accidents, and one peacefully to old age and it is always a major loss in my life.

As for your Mormons, Hyp, if they are young men traveling in groups of two then your nicely dressed helpers are on their mission. Missionaries are required to wear jackets, button-down shirts, slacks and ties. They are required by the Mormon Church to travel in groups because that is how they protect each other from the temptations of all the wanton women out there. As you know, a public library is full of such females. smiley - tongueout

Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.")

Johnny Carson was 79 when he passed on. He was also considered to be one of the funniest people on USian TV.

Written test completed successfully, road test to be taken on Thursday.

I am kind of glad about that Lil, gives me more time for finger pushups for refreshing.

Mol - on the new tablet

I have had a quiet day at home today with OSH (two years old, and a bit poorly) - it has been lovely. And I cancelled my Guide meeting tonight, as M and I are both under the weather and not up to entertaining 30 girls for two and a half hours. I shall write up the end of year accounts instead.

smiley - hug for Hypatia - we had a similar experience with our cat a few years ago. We don't yet have another - I would like a pair of kittens, but not until OSH is at school and old enough not to tease them (and young enough not to want to train them to be killer cats). We did have a hamster to stay over Christmas, which provided about an hour's entertainment, and a daily argument about who was going to change his water.

Good news today - the village project I've been working on doesn't now have to be wrapped up by 17 March (which would have meant cramming 4 months' worth of work into, well, however long that is). This means we can finish it properly instead of rushing it, so I'm feeling more positive about it than I've felt since it got into the rut last October smiley - smiley

for anybody who manages to get any exercise, whether canine-assisted, regular, intermittent, swimsuit- or running shoes-clad ...

Mol

Hyp smiley - cuddle - sorry about your smiley - cat

A very good friend of ours died a few years ago. He was only 38 and a lovely, lovely man.
A few weeks later, the somewhat elderly cat also died.
Matthew, who was 5yrs old at the time, told his mum he was glad Thomas had died - because now he would be with Daddy and Daddy wouldn't be lonely. smiley - wah

The great thing abut smiley - dogs is that they love you, unconditionally. I did once have a smiley - cat who seemed to know how I was feeling and would come and curl herself around my neck if I was feeling particularly low.

I won't be here tomorrow - will be staring into someone's smiley - yawn when the forum moves on.
Don't suppose one of you guys could be my Proxy FTTF?

Oh Teuchter, you nearly made me bawl too.

I hated it when my cats died (we had, hangone, must take socks off and access toes for this, oh darn out of toes as WELL, S isn't back so I can't use his... Umm, Mitzi, Svikas, Poppy, Dylan, Rasmus, Mitsy, Basil, Nelson, Frances, Little Catty, Mikey, Featherstonehaugh (pron. fanshaw - we're not THAT daft) Ugo, Indie, Pyjamas, Microbe, Mordecai, Judith, Boot-faced Evil B*****d, Thumbs, Wodge, 'Noying (because she was annoying), Bibi, Zazu, Dmitri, Tinsey, Kitsey and Kit-Kat. That's, err, 28 cats? Bibi and Noying were taken away after an acrimonious split-up, so Zazu, Dmitri and Kit-Kat are still with us. Well, with our parents. We can't have cats in this flat. Darn it.). The darlings of my heart were Mitsy, Mikey, Mordecai, Thumbs and Zazu. Mordecai was a wee mad black scrawny thing and I was the only human she (yes, I know, we got confused when she was tiny) ever allowed to touch her. She was hit by a car. And crawled up the steps to die in my arms smiley - wah

Quick change subject.

On a positive note, I FINALLY found the missing P60, having given up looking and started to try and get my ex-employer to give me a copy. It was somehow masquerading as a bank-statement for 2002. Just think, if I hadn't decided to give up adn do my filing properly... Oh, the relief. I feel 2 stone lighter.

That's an impressive amount of cats< smiley - ok And - I'm surely a cat person. Too smiley - smiley The unconditional love mentioned is one of the things about my (actually, the family's - but I trained him and walk him, so he's more mine! smiley - biggrin) smiley - dog that I do love.

The thing with flatcoats is that their unconditional love is expressed - like everything else - with 110 kmh (or mph - the 60% extra doesn't make much of an exaggeration smiley - winkeye). I mean - when Castor waggles his tail, you can notice that flats' tails starts around the shoulders... smiley - tongueout

And, even at 11, he's still very fast. Doesn't run as fast as long as he used to, but he can still trot a couple of kms and still be fresh for a walk 15 min after we've come home.

Now smiley - blush I went off again...
