Jeez. You're right WA; you're not on the list. If I hadn't been so rushed yesterday I might have noticed that. Sorry.

Well, I feel positively early for once. Second LED. Woohoo!
B has his citizenship test tomorrow. We have finally decided to get him naturalised, mainly for the convenience of travel.
I'd say that the test contains about 80% actually quite useful info about the working of the UK, and is there fore appropraite to learn, 10% annoying cultural generalisations like all English people like cricket, and 10% of the thoroughly irritating need to learn statistics like the date women got to hang on to their property and the exact proportion of Christians who are Roman Catholic.
Mind you, even those choices are pretty pointed. There will be no one in any doubt of the theoretically equal status of women after they've memorised every significant date on the way to universal sufferage.
Anyway, B is now averaging much better scores than I am on the practice tests. Not sure I'd pass to be honest. It's the detailed knowledge required of the benefits system which tends to trip me up.

I'd have been here sooner, but my computer seems to have hired a team of exhausted former BBC hamsters today...

*Makes desperate, hopeless leap for the first LED, naturally misses, falls flat on her face in the middle of the Salon*
Evening all.
I think if anyone tried to test my British citizenshipworthiness, I'd be shot from a cannon out across the Channel by the end of the week. I still hold with the Great DNA - cricket is a bizarre form of religious warfare designed to wipe out the human race.
Finished a presentation and a large wad of group-work today (hurrah!) but have to write a statement about how I, personally, felt about doing group-work for tomorrow (boo!) and am I writing it? Well, clearly not. Sick to death of writing things down at all, let alone in report form with stupid third-person management-speak grammar solecisms mandatory. But we may not use English as she is spuck, as we are writing reports. We must use English as she is abused and mangled by manglement specialists who used to vomit at the sight of Tennyson as school-kids, or we lose points. Me needy nice points. Me wanty nice degree.
Gah.
Yours, Disgusted of South Nodnol.

Bother, hit post before I quite wanted to.
I also wanted to say, well done Bagpuss.
There. I've said it.

And back in to say, indeed it was scribing worth an . Had me laughing out loud a few times in the sanctuary of my hotel room
>your scribe apologises if he missed anyone, but everyone missed his birthday
Sorry, and oh yeah, I seem to have had mine too
I was going to say that we should start a society for people who likes their language treated well - after Ti's, Ag's and also Lil's comments. The I realised we already have one. The Salonistas. Ain't that a good thought?

why are hours shorter when you have a heap of things to do?
Nice writeup baggers,
and having caught up with the backlog, that means I still haven't done the things I need to...
Guess I'll be one of the crowd hunched over their laptops on the train at dark O' clock tomorrow, ready to face whats bound to be a long day in Manchester.

Jolly good scribing!
I feel like I only write contribute to the conversation using more than one sentence when I have something medical-related to report, probably because this is really is what happens!
Anyway, I have the date for my heart operation, which is 19th March, the coming Wednesday. So, from next Tuesday onwards I won't be around for a while. Hopefully I should be out of hospital within a couple of weeks, then recuperating at home/parents' house for a couple of months. Will keep everyone updated, health and internet access permitting, and will also try and make some non-medical-related contributions to conversations!

I did notice that I don't appear to be on the list of active Salonistas, but that's alright. I like being incognito
