Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.") Posted Nov 10, 2004
It's kind of like woohoo or yay.

I seem to recall some sort of television show where the characters went around saying 'Woot-woot' to each other... but can't recall what that was. And it *wasn't* Tellytubbies.

A Knight's Tale? What the one with an Australian running around doing torunaments with Chaucer as his warm up man? But... But... The whole saving grace of that movie is the fact that it would have been physically impossible for the filmakers to signal any more clearly that the last thing they wanted to do was make a film which had anything to do with historical reality. That's why I like it! For goodness sakes.

The Python's saving grace is that Terry Jones was an historian. They took the p**s royally, but they knew what they were taking the p**s out of.
Z - your post is a poem. Can I nick it some time I need to pretend I can write as well as that?
Morning everyone! When do you think we will next see sunshine it is - as Bill Bryson put it - like living inside tupperware here.

Welcome, Red
*raises a G&T to Ben's Dad*
Nothing like the old boys' and girls' networks for a little helping hand. And even thought it is only 8.30am, Ben's Dad's memory is good to celebrate any time of day. He sounds like he was a wonderful person and I suspect there is a fair bit of his personality in our Ben.
Also to Marv for inadvertently quitting smoking. Well done that man.
Good to see you looking perkier, Amy!
Good grief, the Knight's Tale is recommended history viewing? Certainly recommended .
Teuchter, I hope you thoroughly enjoy your spa visit, you have earnt it, and that the conference is interesting. We must get together for a natter sometime soon.
B4 your new location sounds idyllic. I would love to live closer to water. The River Wey is only a short walk, but is rather spoilt by it's proximity to the A3, a major road between Nodnol and Portsmouth, which is a busy channel ferry, naval port.
I get the aurora warnings too, but was playing SWG online, so missed the alerts. But still, I shot down a lot of TIE fighters, which was soooo fun!
w00T is a game geek's term as is 1337, pwned and there are rather alot more that I seem to know
Ben, it is lovely and sunny here at the mo. I have Pilates, so if it remains sunny for the next hour, I shall be putting the roof down on the car, wearing a warm coat and hat, and drive through the Surrey Hills to Shamley Green.

Ben, of course you can nick my post, though I didn't realise it was a poem.
Oh well better drag myself in..

Green glow in the sky, that was good
Earlier on yesterday evening, just after MC had gone out, I went out with the telescope as it was clear, soon clouded over While I was out I saw a bright, almost white it was that bright, green glow just to the W of true N. This is what kind of gave it away. MC also saw this from her car. When she arrived back we had another check online and it was still indicating some activity and so we drove up to the top of a big hill, parked up in the carpark and looked as the band of green glow in the sky. It might not have been the fancy dancing veils and ribbons of light you see in the far magnetic north but still it was there and we did see an aurora

Indeedy, it's to say that you've read the proceedings so far but don't have anything to add. Politeness. Or something.

Matina, a very large cappuccino please, with something wickedly sweet on the side.
Morning all.
Teuchter, enjoy your spa treatment - you really do deserve it after the year you have had
Is it only wednesday? Time is playing tricks with me this week.

Home from ork. It's 0500 and we had another day of doing nothing of note. Why is it so bloody warm right now? (note, as I sort of hate smilies, I intentionally mistyped that one.)
Phil, I've glanced North to see if I can see the aruora, but the city glow over the Wasatch is too much. I rather want to see the phenominom (sp?).
1337 pwned w00t etc are all terms that have been stolen from the hacker community by the gaming community. Well, pwned is sort of a gamish term in it's own right. If I was still writing guide entries, I might write one about 1337 5p34k, but then I would be admitting a body of knowledge that I find myself embarrased to possess.

There is already one about l337 and there is one about gamer language in PR right now - I didn't feel qualified to comment though. I don't think they had w00t in there so it might be worth suggesting it.
