The lights in our house will be off at that time. We'll be away that weekend
While waiting for the next bash of storms it's nice and sunny here.
Congrats Irv. Once you've been elevated to the bar, does that mean it's your shout for the drinks?
Last night I went out and ended up in the cheapest pub in the next town along to where I live. The real ale cost half the price of the real ale I drink in the local in the village pub. Then again if you don't like Sam Smiths beers you're scuppered as that's all you will ever get in Sam Smiths pub like this one.

Now I realise how come I ended up as among the richest people in the world in that test I posted some time ago - that must have been before taxes!
Just read an article (in Swedish, sorry) that Denmark has now replaced Sweden as the no. 1 tax pressure country in the world - Denmark is now at 48.4% and Sweden at 'just' 47.8%!

Congratulations to Irv, and well thoughts to Ag.
I am still tired after the show - back at work, rehearsing the next one, trying to catch up with everything I didn't do last week.

I can't believe it. I'm wearing sandals today. Apparently I *want* it to start snowing today.

I was going to say something ...oh yes. Sam Smith beers are okay, but in the US, they tend to suck royally since they are not only pasturized, but bottled in clear glass. Which does horrid things to beer.

MR, is it possible to get non-pasteurized beer in the US outside of brewing for yourself?

That's a good question, Marv. I've been wondering that myself.

Marv, hate to tell ya, but MOST beer in the US is unpasturized. The only time it is is if it's imported or fizzy yellow water beer (i.e., bud, coors, etc).

Given the US laws on food it surprises me that unpasteurized beer is sold at all.

Same here... but pasteurization does weird things to beer. Unless it's already bad beer, like Coors...

"Fizzy yellow water beer" Now, there's a description!
Saw this headline in the Independent International - didn't read it as the paper belonged to the guy next to me in the Cph-Amsterdam plane - but for some reason thought of Ag:
America hit by the unlikeliest of crazes: knitting
(actually, I did also think of Mrs SG V who I am sure would hold her own in a knit-off with Ag )

I'm sure they spun a good yarn.

Mornin All
Phew that was a bit of a blow last night. Gusts up to 80 mph so the <dog. had a night in the house. Looking around on the way to work this morning there doesn't seem to be too much damage.

Knitters - slowly taking over a world near you. (I do like the idea of the guerilla tree-cozy).
Bottled Guinness is VILE. Is that why, because it has been pasturised? To my mind, beer's natural habitat is a cask in a pub cellar. I have yet to meet a bottled ale or beer that I care for. Export lagers like Singha or Tiger are fine in bottles, but ale? Urgh. Always tastes stale and vaguely dead.

Also, our front yard is full of broken twigs and little branches and a kind of art installation of crisp packets and plastic bags. Still windy. Our flat is up under the eaves, which have taken to eerie whistling. Bother the wind. I'm tired.
