Happy Birthday, Titania.
Here's a small . I'm not actually sure how useful it'll be - but it's very pretty.

Which dictionary definition of "Enjoy" are you using?
Our Project office is in Manchester so if I'm back up here after the new year I may have to see who I can con into a mini meet.

All the bogs are frozen again?
Can't you hire a Porta-Loo?
.
Something odd happended here the other night. I heard first a banging noise aroumd 9.30pm and then a louder noise like someone was trying to break in a flat downstairs as locked out. A little while later I looked out and saw a pushbike on ground and thought someone might be trying to steal my pushbike as cover off so went down, I realised just the wind had blown my pushbike cover off but the the bike I saw was actually a new childs bike designed to look like a Harely Davidson motorbike. Someone had clearly been smashing it up with a hammer and just left it there. It looked like someones intended Christmas present and it was left halfway across drive all night and disappered in morning. If it was a parent in a temper tantram then you wonder just who is a child in the family. The only people with children here likely to be of a suitable age live in flat near where bike was.
Altogether a Christmas mystery indeed!

Hey Affy! Where have you been keeping yourself? Those fuzzy blue pants look quite attractive on you.
I took control of the mighty scheduling pen and penciled myself in for next Wednesday and Thursday off work. So with my regular long weekends and the holiday, I wind up with 10 days off by only spending 19.5 hours of vacation time. Then I'll go in on the 31st, when we always close at 4, to close out payroll for the year and have the 1st off. That will put me working 7 hours in 12 days. Not bad. Maybe I'll be able to get my poor yard cleaned up.
I enjoy neighborhood mysteries, Strangely. It's fun to come up with possible scenarios.
My house is quiet this morning. No Good Morning America blaring on the TV, no one whining about when breakfast will be ready, no one crashing and banging about rooms that are supposed to be unoccupied. Bliss.

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Dec 19, 2007
Dastards!
The people who have bought all the tickets for the Terracotta Army exhibition that is...
I got the e-mail through about twenty minutes ago saying "there are more tickets available!" but of course none of the tickets remaining by the time I managed to get on the site are at all convenient for anyone who doesn't live in or near London. And the worst thing is that I just *know* that most of the daytime tickets have been purchased by Londoners! They live in the bloody place, why can't *they* go to see the exhibition at half-past-eight in the evening instead of us poor sods who'd have to book a hotel to be able to do so?

Roight... booked tickets anyway. For ten to flippin' nine! Mrs. D is going to look for hotels what we can stay at.

It is the Terracotta Army. Worth a bit of extra bother. Another one of those fabulous things that never makes it to Webb City.

Calm down, calm down Mr D you'll blow a gasket. Where did I read that the Terracota Army figures were fake, hope the tickets weren't too expensive

£12 each... which is actually a lot less than I was expecting them to be.

Ok peeps, I was wondering if anyone had a fairly simple recipe using red cabbage and apples that I could use for Christmas? Sorry can't read links at moment so will need to be on here, my personal space will be ok if not wanted on here, many thanks!
.
I have been recording Christmas music off TV as love to see artists who don't normally sing Christmas music perform it. I have developed a good way of doing it by recording TV programme and editing music out and puting on 2 DVDs. One DVD has all recordings as a sort of master and another the very best ones in quality but also ones without end credits of programme being in them as programmes often keep the Christmas music until end. I find Songs Of Praise a great programme for recording songs as has no clapping and a definite gap in editing of programme which allows easy removal of songs from rest of programme. I already have one hour of the best Christmas songs on one DVD already which is actually quite a lot as most programmes only have one Christmas song if any at all.

Mr D, good job you weren't heading to Hamburg to see the Terracottas. It's closed.

Don't most artists fall into the "don't normally perform Christmas music" category? There's only 3 or 4 weeks of the year when you can get away with it...
Weeding and withdrawals from libraries? We're having lots of ruthless fun with that here at the
Library of Doom. Hasn't been weeded in an age, but we're moving building soon, so we're bidding farewell to all material that isn't circulating. It is sometimes heartbreaking, but it is nice to have a tiny weeny bit of room on a few shelves!

Here's a braised red cabbage and apples recipe I found courtesy of your very own Delia Smith, Strangely. This is all a direct quote from her:

My apologies if this adds nothing to the conversation here.

That sounds delicious, FG. You can also stir-fry red cabbage and apples with some pork loin. And they are good together raw in slaw. I make sort of a cross between Waldorf salad and cole slaw.

I think it does too, Hyp. I have some tasty pork cutlets from a local pig farmer in my freezer. I might pair this recipe with them after Christmas. Speaking of meals, and the Christmas meal, my family has changed everything around. I'm usually in charge of desserts. Now someone else is (I've heard talk of a linzer torte and a chocolate praline cheesecake from them), and I'm responsible for the starches. We're having a great big lovely locally-grown ham as the main dish. I'm thinking about moving away from ham's usual accompaniment (at least in the States), scalloped potatoes, and perhaps making a rice pilaf. I'm also planning on baking my own loaf of bread or rolls for the meal.
