kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013 Posted Aug 6, 2004
The thunder finally came to my little village yesterday - very spectacular it was too
Welcome Santragenius
Happy Birthday B4
Today is quite special for me, it is exactly one year to my wedding day This time next year I will be having my last breakfast as a 'Miss' and be worrying about my hair and makeup and dress and the venue being ready and a million and one other things. The only thing I won't be worrying about is seeing my fiance waiting for me

Soon after I suggested going out to a very good local pub to MC last night it started raining. Then there was the rumbles of thunder and a few flashes of lightening. Didn't see much though but it did carry on for several hours. I think the nearest it got was about a mile away or so.
We didn't go out in the end.

Well, that's certainly an occasion, Kelli: And a late one for B4 as well
(has to live up to my title as Muse for Perpetual Latecomers, haven't I )
And almost yes, Caerwynn... My daugther is 11 - but a very qualified pre-teenager She usually adds a merry and matter-of-factly "Dad ... you're strange" to "the look"
The Danish Met office did register some 200 lightnings on Thu 5 - grouped in southern Sweden...: http://www.dmi.dk/dmi/index/danmark/lyn/lyn-arkiv-6.htm (the link will most likely only be good for some days as it's a rolling archive).
In comparison, on 31 Jul they counted 6432... Mostly over southern Denmark and Northern Germany...
True - thunder & lightning is fantastic to watch. The full force (or one of them) of Mother Nature

OK so I don't know much Danish but that is a cool idea, the numbers of lightening stikes and where they are.
I wonder if the UK met office do anything like that...

Had quite a display of lightning here last night. Forks all over the place looked like a firework dispaly.

Am writing job application letter. Is hellish. Please may I have some for medicinal purposes if I promise to toast Kelli and the birthday people with it?

May I do the honours - no seems to be within earshot:
and for myself, obviously strictly for quality assurance purposes
It is not too long ago I myself was through the application rumble - it has the potential of making you sweat a little even without the current heatwave (that we at least have here)...

for Agapanthus.
I have spent the morning re-writing my CV to bring out the non-IT elements for a local job, so I have a great deal of fellow feeling. What to say? What to leave out? Am I what they want? Permanent jobs are *much* scarier than contracts!
I want to hang up my travelling shoes!

Self-employment is rewarding but terrifying. But I'm not sure what else I could do now, outside of administration. I may have to take up temping this winter!
Meanwhile, that clock of mine on eBay has exceeded three hundred dollah in bidding.

*Knocks back champagne, coughs, holds out glass for refill* Thank you. I'm applying to work for a publisher's. I'd really REALLY love this job. Oooh, but I'm a bundle of nerves and Lord knows what reserves of steely strength are keeping me from chewing all my newly grown nails off.
Cheers, all of you. I'm heading back to the grindstone. I really want to get this doen today so I can stop fretting about it and have a nice weekend with my sweetheart.

Had with a friend this morning, her two are a three years younger than mine, so plenty of notes to compare when we meet up.
Her eldest has fallen in love with a NZ girl and he has gone to Uni down there. Although he has spent long periods from home working abroad during a two year gap before going to Uni, she is missing him very much. She was saying that before he met his girl, she always expecting him to return home every few months and then go to Uni here, so is wasn't as final as this move appears to be. She showed me a photo of the two of them that he had emailed and they looked a lovely couple, very young (not yet 21) for such a commitment, but you can see how they feel about each other by their eyes and the way they lean in to each other .
So I reckon true love is always worth drinking to

Best of luck with the job.
Today is my second anniversary on h2g2. It doesn't seem that long at all. Drinks on me.

ta thanks marvellous *flops onto sofa*.
I just pressed the 'send' button. Does anyone else, having spell-checked, grammar checked, reread rereread, rereREread, read again for luck, and spell-checked twice more, find they can't actually SEND the darn letter+CV until they've got up and done the little 'oh-God-I'm-so-nervous' dance round the study and made more tea first?

I've applied for so many jobs in the last year that if I expended that much energy for each application I would be a jibbering idiot with all the stress.
I just applied for a job at the University of Utah. I'd sort of like to get a job there for various reasons; not the least of which is that I like the idea of half price tuition.
Tomorrow is my reunion, I am looking forward to it, but I am at the same time looking at it with some trepidation as I have not seen most of these people since the day we graduated.

I've got a date tomorrow! A real, honest to goodness, do-I-fancy-this-bloke-enough-(etc) date!
(We don't have a smiley, do we?)
He's local, seems suitable (whatever that means), either has a really sense of humour or is a cross-dresser, and I found him via an online dating site. We are going to go to the local museum and art gallery, and then he goes away for a week on his hols.
Scary day all round!
