Schools:- All of mine are still there. However considering that both were looking for extensions to be built since before I was born, both actually got this after I left education. My primary school now has the same number of temporary classrooms now with extension as there were in my time there. My Secondary school got its new extension including up to date science facilities after I spent 3 months carrying chemicals et al out to temporary labs as the Chemistry Lab assistant.
Teachers salaries:- Don't get me started either as the son of two teachers I know how much time and effort they put in over their career which would count as overtime and push them outside the EU directive on working hours but which was never rewarded and rarely recognised in any form.
Jessica Rabiit:- What on earth have you lot been doing overnight. Was that A-Z show really that inspirational that it affected the Atelier or are we still suffering back lash from Janet JAckson's Superbowl 'appearance'.
Commercial Links:- Shame on you Ben. Slap wrists. (oh are we getting back to the above conversation)

Alright for some.
Why do I have to work in a call centre?

I work in a NOC. Fortunately, I have the night shift to myself right now. Otherwise I'm sure I'd be getting interesting looks...
Today I'd still sing, though. Good way to keep sanity.

It was a line I had to add after G7's comment about singing today.
Now to return to the serious discussion...

dElaphant (and Zeppo his dog (and Gummo, Zeppos dog)) - Left my apostrophes at the BBC Posted Feb 3, 2004
D'oh! Now I have that "tomorrow" song stuck in my head, and it's one of those that once it's there, it's there for days, weeks, months even.
One more return back to the silliness of last night - Greydesk, you are right, although there seems to be a lot of speculation on the subject. imdb.com has loads of information including this, buried on the "laserdisc details" page:
The "Rigid Tools" poster, which is assumed to be the real reason for the recall of the US LaserDisc "The Best of Roger Rabbit", has been airbrushed out. As Roger is running through the sawmill in Trail Mix-Up (1993), there is a quick pan by a poster on the wall which is titled "Rigid Tools" and it shows a [removed by d'Elaphant. Imagination is so much better than fact. ]
Welcome back Candi. This seems to be the computer-problems-getting-sorted-out thread. And Z, any external modem will be compatible with linux, for an internal modem one from a major manufacturer should be OK but check the SuSE hardware lists.

Sorry, d'E. Try imagining Devo singing it and it should shoot right out of your head. (Well, it always works for me. )

Hypatia, are you, late for a very important date? If so are you really the White Rabbit?
Before chistmas I was taken to a gig by the Oysterband and June Tabor and they ended the first half with a version of Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit which was absolutly cracking.

*begins mumbling the words to White Rabbit without fully understanding what she is doing, then shakes her head and breaks out into a chorus of "I'm late, I'm late for a very important date" before finally subsiding to sip and Zeppo some more*

So what is it about some tunes that make them keep going round in your head?
Familiarity, annoyance, emotional response, memories, mood?

I don't know but I'm currently humming "There's so much you can do, find a girl settle down, if you want you can marry" from the Boyzone song "Father to son" I know why. It was on the album the surgeon was playing when he operated this morning.
That was more fun than surgery usually is, I learnt a lot, and the surgeon wasn't a Lancetlot Sprat.

Except now I'm never going to be able to listen to that song again without remember the anatomy of the armpit. I think it's circumstance that keeps a song in your head.
