Yes, one should always vote in elections if one wants to complain or even pass comment on the performance of any subsequently elected government.

Indeed to complain, one has to actually vote for someone that lost. I was so close to not voting for TB smiley - blush in my words in the pub afterwards were. "Well I voted labour, so if things go tits up then it's all my fautlt"

Titania (gone for lunch)

Z said 'Why doesn't the world fall apart every day when it snows where you live?'

smiley - laugh I wish it were so – the attitude of the people responsible for the commuter trains, rails and switches is usually 'What? Snow this year? Again?' and then we get late or cancelled trains…

Sol said 'I mean, Canadians have this nifty thing to plug their cars into and keep them unfrozen built into their houses, yeah?' Outdoor parking lots with a little box on a pole are quite common in Sweden – you plug it into your car

All cars have studded tyres this time of year, and the tyres are allowed from October 1st until April 30th, and 'during other times if the road conditions are – eh – wintery?'

I've just got an e mail asking students to be in an audience for a sperm race on Open University.

Well I don't have your e mail but I can cut and past..

@The aim of 'Lab Rat' is to make scientific ideas accessible to 20-40 year olds. Each week our two presenters, Dr Mike Leahy and Zeron Gibson (the 'Lab Rats'), will set out on a scientific road trip, putting themselves through a range of experiences, extremes and experiments to find out how they respond to different situations.

The programme we are making at the moment is about Fertility in Men.
We will be hosting a big screen event in a pub in Birmingham- a sperm race between our two presenters.
We are looking for 50 people to form a crowd at the pub to cheer on the race from about 1pm for a few hours.
We will not be able to pay the students but we can throw in a couple of pints and encourage them to be merry!
I'd be grateful if you would put out the attatched advert to the students and ask them to contact me directly if they are interested."

I agree, you have to vote for your opinion to count. Opting out does not work.

Sometimes I can be made to feel a little bit guilty about my vote for Ralph Nader in the last US presidential election, but not for long. My vote did not affect the election in general as Gore won NJ hands-down (it was different in Florida, but then everything was different in Florida that year). But more importantly, I think the number of people who did vote for Nader sent an important message to the democrats, and is partly the reason why Dean is a viable option this year and has the endorsements of some important people.

It's nice to have you here, Rev. Paperboy.

I wish we had an actual, viable third party. One that could keep the other two honest.

Demon Drawer

One of the spoiled papers in my ward at the council election had spawled over it

'Stop Wasting My Money on Holyrood'

I think maybe the person was under the illusion that West Lothian Council was somehow spending his Council Tax and Water bill on building the Scottish Parliament.

However I think he may have though the white (council) ballot paper was for parliament instead of the blue and peach ones (which were).

I'm afraid I have other plans on Monday so I won't be able to go to the sperm race. Shame really.

I'm not entirely sure They would take any notice if the majority of ballot papers were spolit smiley - erm

rev. paperboy (god is an iron)

the rev. leans back, calls for a footstool, and begins noodling on his guitar
"Martina a martini, stirred not shaken please and very dry"
(puts feet up)
No question about it at all, I like it here!

I must warn you though, I am prone to link posting and occasional bursts of song.

Well we don't have anyone else who sings - though some backing music could be nice at times. Posting links - well we have been known to do that..
