Toasty the Snowman Posted Dec 18, 2003
…Toasty the Snowman!]
Hey-ho, folks, what—pray tell—has happened here? Oh, my! This is, to coin a phrase I swear I heard very recently, “curiouser and curiouser.” {He winks at Caerwynn, and one of his black coal eyes folds in on itself momentarily, then reappears.} Ooh, that felt very strange.
Hmmm… Let’s take stock of the situation, shall we? I seem to be made of ice and snow. Three main sections: a base, a torso, and a head. Check, check, check. Hard packed, so as not to fall apart easily. Arms made of small tree limbs and—oh!—opposable twigs! How novel. Eyes of coal. Right. Carrot for a nose. Alright. And a mouth laid in with thick, bright red yarn. Hmmm… Seems to be all in order.
{Surveys his surroundings. His head makes a full circuit of 360 degrees.}
Ah, and THAT’s a handy feature! {He smiles.} Nice day for an outing. Plenty warm enough, isn’t it?

/* Holds back Zeppo when he tries to get the stick arms. */
Zeppo, NO! Bad dog! Those are B4's *arms*. He'll be needing them, if we ever get him turned back.

Toasty the Snowman Posted Dec 18, 2003
There, there, Zeppo... Good dog. I'll find...uh...another stick for you in just a bit. Meanwhile, how about a little chew snack?
{Toasty reaches up with his left limb, raises his black bowler hat, and scoops a Scooby-Snack out from under it with his right limb.}
How's that? Like it?
{Toasty 'leans' toward d'E by rolling the balls of snow of his torso and head lower and further out. Sotto voce: }
I hope you don't mind me giving him a little treat. And...thanks. I've just found the first draw-back to being a snowman; don't play "fetch".
{/sotto voce}
Let's see; what else should I be wary of? Fire? Oh, definitely must keep a distance from fire, for all the obvious reasons. Hm... Ah, well, I'll pick up the rest as they come along.
{Toasty rolls back into his original shape, but tilts his head back with the chill breeze, thinking a bit.}

*frowns*
Is it just me, or is there even more magic in the air here than usual? I don't like this...
...oh, and remember to stay away from warm drinks, B4 *thinking of the thermoses with Glögg that she made sure that Matina packed*

My first of the season!
The is one of my favourite films, absolutely enchanting.
*settles back and rearranges the throw around her and sighs happily*

*Affy blinks in confusion at the B4-Turned-Snowman and wonders what to do about it. He glances at the Kulcad Scroll in his pocket (Dispells A Magic Spell), but decides that he'd better see how the situation handles itself first. He also ponders bringing up the Izyuk Spell (levitation and flight), but given the reaction to a spell as simple and powerless as the Jindak spell he decides to hold off*

I could shoot 'im with a snowzar! Because, you know, he's snow and snowzars freeze things and....never mind, it's a dumb idea....

Toasty the Snowman Posted Dec 18, 2003
Hmmm... Yes. Well... It occurs to me I had best quit lounging on this bale of hay, as my bottom is starting to look like a hedgehog. Perhaps just a stretch of the legs to limber up would be the better thing at this point. {He stares at Affy5 with coal-black eyes.} Yes. Perhaps the best.
{Without waiting for Amos to halt the haywain, Toasty surges from his bale past d'E and rolls right off the back end of the wagon. He lands with a resounding "PLOP!" in the runnels of the snow-covered trail, bounces once (without bursting apart), then turns and slides gracefully through the snow on the verge of the path.}
Oh, this is just incredible! I've never been able to move this FAST before...or...um...as B4.
{He banks and veers, sending a spray of snow into the snow-bedecked thickets, and cheerfully careens from one side of the wagon to the other.}
Wheeeee! {Swish-splish!} Yeeee-Haaaa! {Swoosh-sploosh!} This Is GREAT!!!

Affy5-Remarkable! His new form has given him a Standard Level Energy-Wave Surfing power!
Affy4-Huh?
Affy5-He can go wherever the snow is.
Affy4-Ah.

Amos the Ranchhand (and Driver) Posted Dec 19, 2003
*While events have been taking place in and behind the wagon, the lane has steepened and begun to wind back and forth, while the vegetation has changed from oak to fir forest*
*if any of the passengers had looked away from the things happening to Toasty, they might have noticed ripples of magic having their effect upon the horses -- a momentary glowing of the eyes or baring of carniverous eyeteeth*
*Now the travellers come upon a clearing, a space big enough for the outfit to turn. It is a sharp bend in the road with an unexpected stunning view, looking back over H2G2 island and the sea*
*One side of the clearing is an extremely steep slope. Several footpaths lead off away from the cliff, and the load leads away, up and down, in both directions*
Ho Bonnie, Ho Clyde!
Alright folks, let's be choosing a tree. There's a stand of goo spruce not far down that path. Miz Ant, did I rightly hear you say you could lift a whole tree, roots and all, and carry it back? Begging yer pardon, but I can't help noticing that yer pretty small!
*Amos turns the rig so that the horses are facing downhill, sets the brake, then leaps down to chock the wheels and fetch the feed bags*

*Wanders into the stand of trees to look.*
Hmmmm, we need one that is perfect. This is going to be a difficult task.
*Wanders around looking at each tree and stops in front of a tree that is about 6' tall. The tree is kind of patchy looking in places and has the remains of a several nests in it. On one side, the windward side, the branches are longer and reach down to the ground, there are many tracks from various animals under this side of the tree.*
I found one I like! This tree may not look the prettiest but it has given shelter to many animals throughout what winter we have had.

*admires the wonderful view before stepping down from the wagon*
We could have a couple of trees, there is room in the atrium for a realy big one if we could get it back, also the library and the conservatory.
*inspects the trees closer to the wagon*
I feel a bit nervous of going further into the trees unarmed.

*climbs over the side and jumps down into the snow*
*wanders over to Zomnker*
I don't know - it might still be a home for several years yet...
*kneels down to take a closer look at the tracks*
Would anyone know what kind of animal made this tracks? *points* I don't recognize them...

Amos, it's amazing what the DFB can lift. I don't know what CLI did to it when they repaired it last year... actually, it's probably best not to know .
*hears Titania's voice*
Hang on, I'll come and have a look.
*clambers onto the side of the wagon and takes off, fighting with her cloak as she gains height*
I knew this outfit was a mistake. *shakes antennae* It's flapping about all over the place, does nothing for the aerodynamics and makes me look like a little witch .

/* Stops to admire the view */
It's stunning, you can see everything! There's the waterworks, and the Aroma Café, and the Village de la Vavoom. I can even see Breach of Continuity Beach, and how some of the things there both exist and don't exist! No, actually I can't see that.
