*remebers recent self help book about avoiding excessive eating, and decides to have a salad instead*
*realises to late that the salad was in fact a tree from the garden*
*wanders off, hoping no one's noticed the difference*

If Wooly does sit on the cake, we'll just have a pancake... badump-dum.

I hate waking up at 4.30 - too early to get up and too late to go back to sleep.

Happy aniversary SV!
I've occassionally wondered why NZ and Aus are called Godzone? Is it because they are warm and nice?

Sol Posted Sep 13, 2006
Ah. Well, there you go then. Shows how much I know. What is Godzone and why, then?

Ben Posted Sep 13, 2006
Well, it's short for "God's own country" but that doesn't really progress us much further.

Where to begin?
Godzone means God's Own.
We are a blessed country, with so much natural beauty and mineral resources the of the world.
We are a multi-cultural society, with people from all nations living here, and blending in, mostly anyway.
We are so far away that conflict doesn't reach ous shores, or is dissapated by the time it arrives.
Sports mad of course, especially cricket, rugby (both codes), tennis, golf, etc.
The weather is fantastic.
So much more to say, but best you come and see for yourselves.
"You will never never know, if you never ever go"
P.S. I was living in Sydney before, during and after the 2000 Olympics. Thousands of backpackers from Europe here at the time and they had a ball. It was truly.
Anyway check out any of the many web sites about Australia, including www.koalanet.com.au/australian-slang and you will get a wonderful knowledge of our humour.
to be so long-winded. Big s from me. By the way, I was born in the UK, North East, Newcastle.

I've been to Australia - the weather was terrible.
You do know that Yorkshire people tend to argue that Yorkshire is god's own country don't you? Mad, the lot of them (I married one).
