Lil, my older daughter has plantar faciitis. When her foot goes she goes .
Did your doctor prescribe the marble exercise? Spill a jar of marbles on the floor and pick them up, one at a time, with your toes and put them back in the jar. It really does help strengthen the supporting muscles.

I remember doing that as a child. I also went to a specialist called Mr Weeble. This to a child was most funny. I went there about my legs (I was bow legged as a child) and walking and yes I did have one of the weeble toys that wobbled but didn't fall down.

Ook could probably provide some pointers on that marble exercise and would have you moving up to peeling bananas in no time flat.
Being chock full of helpful suggestions today, I would also like to suggest baking soda to get those idea stains out.

Caerwynn, I think it was one of those from Boarhunt I was last there as a child, and I remember being shown a small empty building. I am sure it was modernised when Gran lived there, and the folk at the museum have restored it to its original condition.

Amy : God bless ya, real good! (or is that ?)
Ben: Don't try to completely expunge your past. Saving only the photos that are "the best" is good, but don't overdo the culling out. Somewhere down the line you may want to reconstruct those lost days, even if there's a twinge of sadness to accompany the memories. Bless you abundantly, too, in this transition.
sDiver: Okay, you gotta share some of your work. If I may, would you consider letting me read through your texts? Let's work out a way to transmit (via e-mail perhaps) storylines and critiques. You go, bro!

Lurker alert!
and I have been discussing triangular milk cartons from when we were
Titania recalls the cartons from her childhood in Sweden. I remember them coming from street vending machines like the one in this picture.

Bald Bloke and I are the same age (well, I'm still the answer for a few more months) so he might remember. Anyone else?

Weren't those drinks introduced in tetrapaks? I think they were called Jubblies or something.

I am sure Boarhunt was modernised a fair few times Toc It will be interesting visiting it with the knowledge that a forbear of someone I've met lived there.
As to the novel thing, No1 son suggested I found out about my great grandfather for my own interest and consider a biography if I still feel inspired. He lead a very interesting life before A J Cronin's novel picks up the tale.

Oh and I think one reason for the drink disappearing was the slang use of the word. jubblies
I seem to remember the drink was orange flavoured.

Caer, you should have put A.J. Cronin's book in for the World Book Day read, and then we could all have read about him. From a quick Google it seems The Citadel was a blockbuster in its day.

There it is - there it is - thanks Caer!
If you follow Caer's link and click on 'About...' and then 'The company' you'll see a picture of what and I was talking about - hah! Finally proof! And no wonder I saw them in Sweden - the company who made them is Swedish!

Oh - and the reason I got so excited is that I've been told all my life I've imagined the triangular milk cartons - nobody, and I mean *nobody* else has seemed to remember them *sniff* - even my own mother couldn't remember them... *blows nose* - but now I can prove that I was right all the time! Bwa-ha-haaaa!

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted Feb 28, 2003
Good morning everyone! I slept so much better 1. knowing what was wrong with my foot and 2. wearing a little sock to keep it warm. The symptoms were much diminished this morning. But I'm off to get a steroid prescription filled as soon as the ice melts off the track shoe's windscreen. Steroids just for a week, to interrupt the inflammation cycle. And then come the shoe prosthetics.
I will do that marble exercise.
Although I was originally going to build with straw bales, a year in this valley convinced me that it wouldn't be a good idea. New Mexico might be chiefly sub-desert, but where I live it's rather green, and the hills cast a long shadow from about 4 pm onward. So conditions are ripe for mold and rot inside the bales. You're SO much at the mercy of contractors, and while a wallbale-stacking neighborhood party can be fun, all it takes is for some eejit or 10 year old to spill their Mountain Dew down into one of the courses and not tell aybody...
agcBen, pleeease don't use the Grand Canyon! You'll raise the fire hazard level. If ripping up is the fate of the letters, they deserve nothing better than the local tip.

Didn't the Tetrapak name sum it all up? The original milk cartons were manufactured in the shape of a TETRAhedron.
Who woulda figured?
