I'm waiting in for the gasman, Cassie is keeping a lookout from her 'tree' (upstairs landing window). I'm hoping a new ignition unit will solve the boiler lockout problem.
We are feeling rather flattered as both H and I have received personal invitations to a private viewing of the Royal Academy of Art's Summer Exhibition next month. I normally buy tickets to Good Housekeeping's private event as wine and canapés are included in the price. Last year we each bought a print so I expect that has prompted in the invite.
It is only No2 son who takes reading material into the bog, it used to be Keraang, but is now more likely to be his Haynes manual for the Ford Orion, whihc no one else in the household would go near anyway.

After a very unsatisfactory conversation with the company subcontracted to fit my gas meter, in which they suggested that when an arrangement is made for the engineer to call between 12 and 6 they expect the customer to be on the premises by 11 just in case they are early, I have told them where to stuff their meter.
I feel much better now.
I wonder what happens next .
In my bathroom I currently have a Simpsons book and a two volume set of a publication used in some schools in the UK until 1972 called "Science for Girls." The books offer "a good grounding in General Science ... as a basis for the lessons in Domestic Science, Laundrywork or Cookery, and ... an invaluable introduction to Biology for those girls taking up Nursing as a career." They promise "applications and examples ... with which the girl is likely to meet in the home."
The first chapter, called "The Body Beautiful", starts with the question "Why is a girl like an easy chair?"
Answers on a postcard to the usual address.

Just returning to an old topic of conversation for a moment, there is an article about spam in today's news. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/2969783.stm

dElaphant (and Zeppo his dog (and Gummo, Zeppos dog)) - Left my apostrophes at the BBC Posted Apr 24, 2003
Interesting article. In my own experience, the address I have listed on my office web site receives less than half the spam than my older e-mail address that has not been listed anywhere in about 4 years. It might be that the older address is on the university's central system, and is more likely to be hit by the "brute force" spammers.
Write to Rush! Let him comment on it, and for one day only the whole office can tune in to his show, if you know what day he will say something.

Agreed, d'E.
I going to see my PL tomorrow - so I am happy! But it is going to be busy before and after - there is A LOT to sort out in the meantime.

Well, I'm not sure if that was a complete waste of time, we shall see. The gasman came, within the allotted time span, but needless to say the boiler failed to muck about in its usual fashion . So it got a service but no new parts and we shall have to wait and see if it happens again. The gas valve is a new suspect in it's machinations and a replacement will be around £200 if it is the cause of the lockouts.
I spent the waiting time sorting and tidying and also adding photos to Photoshop. Here is a link to the magnolia photos:

I hope it doesn't stretch the limits

We won't have our magnolias bloom for another week or two I suspect; it started to snow yesterday afternoon and there is still some on the ground.
Rediculous.

Off to the foot doctor this morning. Remind me to look at those links later.
So the embargo on talking about the war is officially off, but we've agreed to soldier on to Post 4242 because Chloe made such a nice mug, right?
See you all later.
btw, the suggestion that Limbaugh to urged to talk about office bathroom habits is an inspired one.

Temporary facility problem is finally settled.
I'll let the rest of you listen to Limbaugh and tell me about it. I have only written one letter of complaint to a radio station in my entire life and it was about Rush Limbaugh.

Newspaper solution:
What if the person who buys it develops a circulation list - asks who wants to read it and puts them on the list. Then each day, the paper gets passed, in turn, to each person on the list. Put the supervisor last on the list.

Frankly, I think the person who bought it should a) say something himself or b) keep it in his desk drawer, and let all of you know where it is, but not the Weasel. That would be the simplest solution.
Only got 5 hours of sleep, but can't decide whether or not to go back to bed or not. It's one of those days. And I have to work later tonight, and then get up and work fairly early tomorrow, so I don't know. Which makes more sense? Or should I just come home this afternoon and get a longer nap?

I went for a walk in Temple Newsam gardens again. Everything had grown so much even though it's less than a week since I last went! The rhododendrons will be at their best in about ten day, I should think. Despite the promises of the lunchtime weatherman it rained .

Can someone recommend a wakeup method that I can do at work?
I cannot wake up today.
