Affy that would just mean that we have to create a turing test. Given the depth of information available to us, and the one on one IM conversations that have been made over the years, I bet we could come up iwth something that your doppelgangers could not answer.

Affy, I am really sorry those fools won't let this drop. Sounds as if they have more money than sense to pursue the case, don't they have better things to do like....oh I don't know.....teach students?

Freddy as Mercury. All about astrology.
Retrogade Freddy means failing, crashing, unwanted results, communication probelms, mess like that. Retrogade Jupiter makes changes in values and attitudes.

aha. And does that apply to everyone? I can use that. Changes in values and attitudes. Just what I've been looking for. Amy too.

Amy,
I think that your analogy is pretty good, but in a soft subject, is a teacher really aiming to get someone from Land's End to John O' Groats? Perhaps from Land's End to the Northernmost Place in the UK.
You can give signposts, terrain maps compass and everything, to guide them towards John O' Groats. But they must use their own minds to decide whether it is John O' Groats they are heading to. Some may venture to Skaw Shetland (Northernmost Settlement), some to Out Stack, Shetland (Northernmost Point).
The biggest problem is that the course co-ordinator seems unable to distinguish Britain and England, and will mark them on their ability to get to Marshall Meadows in Northumberland.
Is there a way to get someone to explain the difference to her? is there a big picture thinker in the senior management?
It reminds me of when I was at school. I studied French over 5 years to learn to speak French, but Spanish over two. I took the same level of exam in both in the same year. My grade in French was slightly better. My ability in French, was *far* better. I knew at the time I was being taught to pass the Spanish exam. I wasn't being taught Spanish.
I also remember which of my teachers did make that difference to my learning. Even 'thick' students can see that.
You are one of them, (teachers, not students) you just need to find a way to make your establishment see a value in that. (Which is easy but not)
Good teachers produce good students, who succeed out of university, enjoyed their time at university, and are far more likely to support the university as alumni (even in the UK).
Simple fact, think long term business, good teachers = money.
Good students also, in the long term, add to the university's reputation. = money.

Affy, what evil things do you think we'll do to you if we find out who you really are at the Meet?
What if I don't want to go to John O'Groats? What I could have used at that age was a teacher who told me that I had more options than I realized and handed me a globe instead of a map of the Ozarks. I needed someone to let me know that I didn't have to settle for anything or always make safe choices.

Thank you for the Freddy reminder, Hati. I took note of it a week ago and had been planning to say something about it, but the servers quashed the thought.

Hyp, were there any teachers with enough foresight at that time to hand you a globe? Remember you had one teacher who ironed leaves between waxed paper. I think students today are given more choices than we were. Although I don't feel like I "settled" for my lot in life. I am exactly where and what I want to be. I am a wife of 43 years, a mother and a grandmother, and proud of it!!
Of course I did not accomplish this on my own. I made the right choice of men in 1962.

Evening all. I would dread retrograde Freddie, but the last month has been so comprehensively s**te that anything turning around would be an improvement.
The weekend was an odd mixture of busy and restful, but it is good to be home. It's snowy out on them thar moors at the moment, and I am half-hoping that I'll be unable to get to work tomorrow.
and were guilt-inducingly hungry when I got in though. I can't leave them that long again. If I go down on Friday, I'll have to come back on Sunday morning.
for FG
on Affy's part. Kafka sprang to my mind too.
for Amy - so that everything she writes is read in the right way.
