I'm in the process of getting things ready around here for my annual Oscar party tonight. Several friends are coming over to watch the Academy Awards broadcast, enjoy good food, and get . I've got my snacks ready, the wine is chilling, the apartment is clean...what's left? Oh yeah. I have to do the dishes.

*Walks into room and sits on sofa ignoring the fact that this is the 7th LED* Had a bell-ringing dinner last night, and have had G come down this weekend because of that, so have been busy spending time with him.
Reading all about uni students, and people's opinions of them is interesting when you are one. We get reading lists for modules but I also like doing my own thing for some essays-one of my long assessed essays is going to include material froma journal issue that I had to request through inter-Library loans, as we don't have it, or much on the subject generally, in the library.
Belated happy birthday FG

Rosemary, as a student, what's your view on how your teachers should teach? have you ever give it any thought?

Here I have been all weekend, struggling with 3 maths problems on a practice test. I realized I was missing a step and it all became clear. Maybe I will do better than I have been thinking I would do on this test tomorrow. Am going to bed now, good night all.

Another glorious start to the day. But we really are going to have water problems this Summer.
Next door came around with their proposals for their building work yesterday evening. Due to the 45º law (we are 45º on to them) they can't build a two storey extension to the side of their house unless we approved. Seems they don't have the £60k it would take to do that and have settled on refurbing the single storey extension already existing. So that was a 'discussion' avoided. However they are bringing their garage forward which would be up against our patio. But as we want to knock down our garage and rebuild it, we are happy for their's to go ahead.
Seems they had done some research on the outline plan permission application on the 14 houses on the back gardens. On arial photographs, if those houses go ahead (setting a precedent) there is room on neighbouring gardens to build a further 14

Nice scribing Ben and Lil!
Belated happy birthday to FG! Those socks you got from Ag sure look pretty, sky blue is my favourite colour!
*hears a small noise from the linen closet* What was that?
Nosebleeds - a possible reason might be sore mucous membranes in your nose. Rinsing them and spraying oil into your nose might help - in Swedish pharmacies, you can buy salt water nose spray and also Nozoil (sesame oil nose spray). Excessive use of nose sprays used for common colds always mess up my mucous membranes - any use of such sprays actually... - I can only use my allergy nose spray.

Rosemary, you are the sort of student we appreciate in the library - people who use their initiative and do their own thinking about things. I am in charge of inter-library loans at the Library of Doom, so I do get to see more than my fair share of people like you.

According to someone I used to work with all students are useless layabouts who breeze through pointless courses so they can get unnecessary highly-paid jobs and steal money from the people who do all the real work. When I pointed out that some of these students would become doctors and teachers and other such useful professions I got a ‘harrumph’ in return.
The same person also believed that there should be a law banning teenagers from congregating in groups of more than two (“cos all they do is take drugs and intimidate people”), that people who get taxis to work shouldn’t have jobs (“cos if they can afford a taxi every day they’re rich enough already”) and that the rich should pay more tax, while those who do all the hard work (i.e. her) should pay less tax.
I never managed to establish if she was a Daily Mail reader, but I suspect she was.

I get nosebleeds at two definite times - when I have been on a plane, the drying affect of the recycled air dires out the mucous membranes, and when I am coming down with a cold - the first indication that one is coming is usually a nosebleed
I'm still at home in bed Going to really take it easy until I'm fully recovered this timeso I don't get the next passing germ...

Not sure how to reply Amy, If from what you say in the second long post the course leader is setting out something that is factually incorrect then it should be questioned all the way.

The Association of Swedish Professional Photographers has a photo contest each year - and the winner for Best Photo 2005 was Jocke Berglund who took a photo of the mayhem caused by Gudrun; a storm that destroyed timber for a fortune:

Very well spotted by that photographer, indeed .
We drove through those areas - I reckon that Gudrun was the storm in early 2005? - during our summer vacation. The storm did some damage in Denmark but nothing compared ot the amount of forest flattened in Sweden. In July, there was still vast areas of forest not even begun to have cleaning up done and we met timber truck after timber truck after...
