Ti, Excedrin is a brand of headache tablets.
We had a storyteller this afternoon. She was very loud, very dramatic, and entirely too perky!

Once I had downloaded all the drivers and updates, I've found ME surprisingly reliable even for gaming, providing I closed down all background stuff.
We would certainly buy Dell again, in spite of their customer services having deteriorated over the last couple of years. I see they are to start selling printers, hence the lack of drivers for our HP OfficeJet, that's the only thing we can't get a driver for, so it won't scan in ME and I have to boot up in NT to do any of that stuff.
I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to Floradora either, she is way too much of a lady for Bottomley and I wish her every happiness for her future.
I'm sorry you are feeling poorly, Amy. Another for your collection help?

Hmmmm... hearing you all describing the problems with updates (way too familiar with them at w*rk) makes me feel quite happy I'm still using Windows 95 *listens to shocked gasps around her*
Well, as long as it's running, I'm happy - and the fact that some games don't work in '95 doesn't matter - I'm not *that* computer game addicted...
I've got a newer version at w*rk (not sure if it's the Windows or Office version) that seems to assume I'm a complete idiot - and then they've renamed the various functions (in the Swedish version, at least) so that I can't find what I'm looking for, having figured out what it was called in the '95 version, but now called something completely different!

Ah, poor Amy. Have some anti-coffee, it will get you to sleep.
I now have thumbnail bios in hand for Carmel Bunny and Pinniped. Courtesy, of ~course~ you can be a salonista, you already are! You are a splendid conversationalist and have mastered backlog effortlessly. Now you must turn in a little bio just like everyone else. And then I'll update the page.
When I was reviewing the previous conversation, I took note of several things I wanted to say. Professor Tonks alluded to the Illuminati some time ago, and I wondered whether anyone knew that one salient plot element from the Wilson trilogy is coming true... the Republic of Sao Tome is emerging as a decisive factor in future oil development in West Africa. This country was formerly known as Fernando Poo.
MR, are you reading "Madness and Civilisation"? You mentioned Foucault...

Those medicine advertisements always sound scary - it's a requirement of US law. Excedrin is just plain old aspirin with some caffeine added, or in some cases acetomenophin (sp? "tylenol" ) with caffeine added.
You can get a two-button mouse for the Mac (just not Apple-branded), even a wheel mouse, or an optical wheel mouse with 5 buttons. Believe it or not the Microsoft Mouse is a great Mac mouse. I prefer the single button - it means my left hand gets some excercise when I hold down the control key while clicking. Otherwise it would wither.
Was there really a country called "Fernando Poo"?

As far as Illuminated conspiracies go, my favorite is how the movie "The Mummy" and it's squel are plots to bring down the Masons.
I have been collecting circumstantial evidence for years and I can demonstrate that the most illuminated secret agengy in the US is not the FBI, CIA, or NSA. It is the Department of Agriculture.

Well, they made Imhotep the vilest of villains. Imhotep, the first scientist who's name is known to history, the man who invented pyramids. Imhotep is held sacred by Egyptian Right Masons (he's right up there with Solomon) so to so besmerch his name the producers of "The Mummy" must have had it in for the Masons. It all makes sense, don't you see?
As for the Dept. of Agriculture...what is your clearance, Citizen?

Lil, haven't actually gotten to the Foucault yet....that's next quarter. Right now I'm plowing my way through Das Capital, vol. I by the lovable and friendly Karl Marx.
Off to finish the last article summary for colonial history....

Yes, there really was a country, a colony country, called Fernando Poo. Portugese, I think. I have a very old loose-leaf atlas that belonged to my dad, with all the old names for the African countries. Sao Tomé is in the Bight of Africa, right on top of some very rich oil fields.
Mac, I am cleared for winter vegetables.

Mac, it could have been a lot worse with the image .... GL and I turned up a lot of interesting stuff in our searches
I've actually been to Sao Tome. More Stoke on Trent than tropical paradise.

In around 1947, my mother, an Army nursing Captain at the time, was posted to Egypt and she said she was most disappointed to find that the Pyramids were practically in Cairo. Was this your experience too, Munch? BTW No2 son says its the Ripley Bonfire on saturday night, seems a little early to me but they are usually the first.
according to my daily paper there are plans to introduce a 20 mph limit in town and village centres! However the DOT have denied this : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/2332983.stm
Any changes in limits here are more likely to stick than in the US, due to the accuracy of the new digital speed cameras, none of any flavour where in evidence in the the areas we were driving around in. Hmmm a move to Vermont seems rather attractive, especially as many homes had nice shiny skidoos sitting outside their homes.

Caer, your observations only strengthen the feeling I have that the car is almost worshipped in the US...

Hello to Red Dog, I don't think we've met before. Pleased to meet you.
And hi Joanna! Thanks for bringing doughnuts to the café. You are a gem!
What is making all the pollution in Salt Lake Marv? I've started to burn firewood again, and intend to do so for the rest of the winter, but as I don't have a car, my consience is clear regarding pollution.
The main pollution source in Bergen nowadays is the big cargo- and cruise-ships anyway.
Foucault: A friend of mine's doctor-paper was about "Foucault's acheology as historical method". Very interesting!

Hi all - as usual, exhausted by b'log...
Good to see you again, Joanna (I met you briefly IRL last year, at the last winter London meet) and Red Dog (who I remember from my very brief dabbling in the / adventures some time ago!)
I need a biog too, don't I! Will write one in a mo.....Matina, could I have a while I think of one, oh and could I try a little of that fruit with it?
