Everyone, you're forgetting the one exception to the "don't kill" rule in the Law Of Continuity: there's absolutely nothing wrong with killing a red-suited extra, due to the fact that they're nearly infinite in number and that they will probably die anyway.

*Caer's comedy stunt double steps into the Atelier*
What about those who had a non speaking part, then suddenly get lines and an away mission?
Just got back from the Surrey County Show, the best so far. No sheep at all and not allowed into the cattle lines either, due to restrictions imposed by DEFRA (Department for the Environment, Farming and Rural Affairs). However the Duck racing went ahead as planned, the Jubilee parade was a potted history with all of the juicy bits and none of the boring bits and the Red Devils Parachute team landed bang in the middle of the arena inspite of a gusty wind. For the those south of the Equator who may have heard of him, the Kangaroo Kid on a quad bike safely leapt over 5 cars. Two stages with live music as well as all the usual traders, rural crafts and farmers' market added to a great day out in spite of the odd shower adn lack of sun.

How cute . Has Lil been rescued yet? Don't make me have to come back out there
. I'm not well, you know.
My sympathies, Prof. The nation-wide rendition of All You Need Is Love In Any Key But The Right One was excrutiating. At least I could turn it off. And I did. I'm looking forward to the concert tonight though .

Well, a good weekends was had by myself and a friend. JL and I drove my new car down to Las Vegas for a weekend retreat from reality, and that town delivered. 904 miles and many hunderds of dollars lighter I find myself home, weary from fatigue, but mentally and spiritually refreshed. Then I go to my doc for a consultation on my bad knees. He gives me a couple of prescriptions and then I go to my parents office to let them know what the doc said. My parents were not there, it turns out my mother is in the hospital with back and chest pain. I hate not knowing what is going on...

Continuity's a weird thing for the people of h2g2. A lot of continuity's laws are far from static, and the vague subtleties are hard to really discern except for those who've been on the h2g2 adventure circuit for a long time.
For instance, wrapping someone in treacle would be permitted if the plot had already admitted previously that the person being wrapped up was unconcious or comatose, or otherwise incapable of defending him or herself, or if it had been admitted previously in the plot that you were possessed some form of power or machine that would render anyone influenced by it to be instantly inside a big treacle "web".
However, if this person had another power or machine to counter-act it, or if the treacle wasn't anything like a power or machine and was perfectly capable of defending themselves, whether or not they become wrapped in treacle is entirely up to them.
I find it useful to have a set list of powers and abilities that I don't change unless the plot allows it. For most adventures, for instance, I just have my watch (contains a huge library of information, helps if I have to reprogram a machine or analyze a substance), my OmeGauntlet (contains my snowzar, polka gun, and all-purpose lazer), and a sword (glows blue when danger is near, but otherwise fairly normal). Other people, likewise, have powers and abilities that I can nullify with my own or that can nullify mine.
In fact, I think that Sea has a kind of wand that can diffuse my polka-gun. Or is it my snowzar? Either way, you get the picture.

MR, these things are generally played for the humour, rather than to win. So the treacle thing fit in very well. I can't remember how it actually played out, but you could have made a post saying that you sprayed a big gush of treacle *at* the Sunjello Kid. Then he could have decided whether it hit, or he ducked. The difference is saying you *fire at* him rather than you *hit* him. The idea is that what happens to you or any characters you create, should be up to you.
The other side of this coin, as I think someone mentioned, is that if you are on the receiving end, you shouldn't be omnipotent. In other words, some of the actions that others take against you should be sucessful. Especially if it adds to the humour.

they're being created by people from the atelier. it's no fun to go on a quest to save the hostess if you don't have a little opposition...
