Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Jan 28, 2002
Most of the timetable cancelled on one of the two Swedish state TV channels, currently only showing interviews with Astrid Lindgren, and interviews with people - everyone in Sweden seems to be grieving her death - prime minister, government, king, even foreign ambassadors, actors, relatives, common people lighting candles and leaving flowers outside the house were she lived in Stockholm, practically national mourning...
...oh my God how I miss her already! I wish you knew enough Swedish to listen to her reading her stories, or an interview - kind, patient, generous, listening, understadning - she was never an adult in the eyes of the children, but one of us (or should I say them? I don't know, but often I still feel like a child)...

Weather's been impressive here, with v. string winds, and so small parts of the school had to be roped off as various bits of trees decided to learn to fly, plus on top of this there was the fun of trying to marching in the wind .

The weather here in the Home Of The 2002 Winter Olypic Farce errm I mean Games, is cold and snowy. There was a 40 car pileup on our main interstate earlier today. Again the sheep and idiots out there in Utahland are showing that they should not leave the house on days like this.

Some shoveling is done now. I'm afraid there'll be more to do in the morning.

*peeks out briefly from 2-month lurk*
*might just have enough time to start keeping up with Atelier backlog now that first semester is over*
*mumbles that 360 existed for a time on h2g2 as a page about different examples of people working all around the world to improve things, though she's not sure what the connection to the Guide is*
*darts off*

I think 360 is a project from one of the H2G2 founders if what I've read is correct.

It runs under the hootoo software, I think the plan is that people submit tales of good etc. in much the same way you would submit an article. I think the plan might be for the BBC to have a whole heap of sites all running the same setup, and you get a common user page between them all, hence why your conversation tells you where it comes from.

Thanks for the explanation, Munchkin -- sounds very ambitious.
I looked at your pics -- great one of B17's retinas! Croz's pics all seem a bit out of focus. People shouldn't drink and shoot.

Caer, Surrey Highlanders are easily recognised by the liberal application of the Marks and Spencer travelling rug tartan, (Royal Stewart to teh cognoscenti) and a tendency to look confused at any mention of anything scottish other than friend of a friends lodge in Braemar. They are like domesticated lap dogs with most of the brimstone and porridge bred out of them! A quick rendition of Donald wes yer troosers and they should scuttle away to safety! The Wimbledon Welsh on the other hand......

The antipodean friends of the Surrey Highlanders will be gathering in their hundreds at a park across the road from my house in New Zealand next month to witness the NZ Pipe Band championships. (140 bands, including some from Australia)
The noisest ones will come from the southern NZ city of Dunedin. This is probably because the word Dunedin is Gaelic for Edinburgh.
Mull of Kintyre.... Oh dear...
The Wimbledon Welsh would enjoy the dog trials. These trials are big on Kiwi TV. (7pm Sunday nights)

One Man and his Dog was axed by the BBC a couple of years or so back. They only do specials now.

Note to self:
Never have an affair with a co-worker. If you're not the gossiping type, *they* will be.
