Ooh, BB, happy birthday!
Gday all. All of a sudden, there are only three working days until my relatives arrive from back east. I've scheduled a tour of Historic Lincoln by the museum historian, followed by a ride in a genuine stagecoach across the mesa to Fort Stanton, followed by a party where they get to meet the locals. That's Saturday. Friday we'll drive down to Alamogordo and take in the White Sands National Monument, or maybe just enjoy the driving. The trees are coming into their golden glory and it's Indian Summer.

Affy, I know what you're going through. I have my own enemies on h2g2... *looks around suspiciously, but as the person in question has never appeared here, he doesn't see them* ...but they've relented their continuity-breaking, insult-tossing postings since the BBC takeover. They know all too well what I could do with that lovely little blob at the bottom of their posts.

It being a warm and cloudless day, I've been out with the 35mm camera to take some pictures of foliage. I hope the backlit ones come out -- I stepped the aperture and swapped a polarising filter on and off, to experiment.
Back in the house, I discovered that Vincent Black Shadow is a natural subject. He doesn't stare at the camera and actually posed on the windowsill when I put him there, for several shots, letting me play with the aperture, and even waiting while I set up the tripod. If he continues to be so agreeable, I shall do a series of still lifes with him in them.
I am also hoping that Looney had a safe and uneventful flight and that his lungs, what's left of them, haven't been overtaxed...

I am re-thinking my decision to attend the Southwest US meet next Spring. I have just discovered that in July of this year it became illegal to wear aluminium underpants in Denver.
