Gw7en, why bother with a fridge? Just leave the stuff in a sealed container on the back step, if it's getting that cold

Yes, but if I have a fridge, I don't have to walk on the cold concrete with my poor bare feet.
Besides, I'd love to have an icemaker...

Make the journey a charity run and collect sponsors along the way, thus keeping you fit and doing a good deed for a good cause at the same time. You should be here just in time to come to the Xmas meet on 24th Nov

I am trying to look really, really busy on the PC, because No2 son wants to go out in his car.
How is everyone?

Good morning everybody! It's great seeing old salonistas (not elderly!) returning. Arl, you arrived since the last time Styx was here; you'll find info about him if you track the Offsite atelier link on the atelier page. And when I read the backlog, I thought, what does he mean, where's his picture? And I went off and checked and sure enough, the enlarged picture link is broken!
I'll fix that today. Typical of Styx to come and go all in one post, though.
sea, what about you? Check post #1 on this thread. Everyone has to supply their own descriptions for the Salonista List that is to be.
You too ox! And you too, Styx!
We've had a sudden temperature drop. As an ex-Floridian, I was fully expecting to be caught out, but it was so sudden that my landlady had to buy a sweater while she was in Roswell! I was in Roswell too getting drug-screened, successfully, for work at the local post office, and I took advantage of the opportunity to go to the mall.
The Roswell Mall! My first trip to a mall in over 3 months. Well, it's very small, with one cafe, one corn dog booth, a JC Penneys, a Wal-Mart, recruiting posts for all the armed services, a police department and a few odd gift shops. None so odd as to be selling paraphernalia, like the UFO museum in the center of town, though.
Anyhow, it was good to buy a new pair of jeans, a scented candle, some warm shirts...
*sips tea*

B-17, come over here and make ice for me and I'll give you $50 a month, plus food and lodging.
Doing fairly well, Caer. Just got dinner started and getting ready to get my fridge - icemaker optional, if B-17 takes me up on my offer.

Guess what! My keyboard survived the I knocked over it yesterday - I turned it upside down, pouring out most of the fluid, shook it a bit, and left it drying over the night upside down - and now the only problem I seem to have is the space bar - a bit stiff...

Hey, don't go knocking that UFO museum, Lil! I have a few friends there doing some research on Earth for me, and I don't want them annoyed.

That's an offer I am very tempted to take up G7.
The Iceman cometh!
*checks on flight availabilty and cost*
So Chris, what about my offer then?

The last couple of autumns we seem to have been getting really heavy rain. No frosts here yet, but it is too early for the s.e. of the UK to get any.
Was reading on the BBC weather message boards that as there will be no El Nino or La Nina influence this winter, we are likely to have a cold one.
I know that those of you living in areas that get snow all winter long hate it, but as it is something of rarity here, I love it!
I am keeping my fingers crossed for lots of snow this winter!

Babel17 Posted Oct 6, 2001
Well, C you may have all the snow down there this year if you want.
* at thought of having to scrape the car at 6am, meaning having to get out of his nice warm bed an extra 10 mins earlier to do so
Assume you are managing to successfully avoid No2 son's pleas to go driving?

I don't hate snow, although I'm living in an area that can have quite a lot of it - that is, unless it starts to melt...
but I'm constantly amazed at the dropped chins and panic and general traffic chaos a snow storm triggers in countries like France...
but I was very surprised to find snow ploughs in Sahara - but it seems that when the wind is blowing, it can drown roads in either snow or sand...

Titania, I do not know what it is like in france in a snowstorm, but here in Salt Lake City, where it snows every year and often it snows a lot, the first snow storm of the season will send even seasoned drivers into a panic and there will be *hundreds* of car accidents in the first day. We are talking big traffic clogging multi-car wrecks here. Just last winter my poor jeep was run into by a lady who did not realize that the bloody cold night makes for icy roads in the morning. I still have not fully repaired that insult to my vehicle.
Key: Complain about this post
